Field Hockey

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Tanya Rego, Simmons (Sr. F - New London, NH)
Tanya Rego, the 2004 NAC Player of the year, led Simmons to a 2-0 week. The senior forward scored two goals in an overtime win against Wheaton, including the game winner. Rego also posted two goals and two assists in the Sharks 4-1 conference victory over Husson.

Carolyn Griggs, Castleton St. (Fr. F - Lincoln, VT)
Griggs provided the game winning goal in Castleton's come from behind, overtime victory versus Plymouth State University. Griggs also scored a pair in the Spartans' defeat of the University of New England, and tallied a single goal versus St. Joseph's College.

Men's Soccer

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Michael Grieco, Johnson St. (Jr. M-Andover, MA)
Greico scored the game winning goal in the 88th minute of a 1-0 win at conference rival Castleton State.

Chris Kirwan, Becker (Fr. GK - Worcester, MA)
Kirwan led the Hawks with two shutouts this week. He had his first collegiate shutout in a seven save performance against Anna Maria in a 0-0 2OT game on Wednesday and had four saves in a 3-0 win over St. Joe's (ME) on Saturday to earn his first collegiate win.

Women's Soccer

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Leah Drew, Husson (Jr. GK - Caribou, ME)
Drew only allowed one goal over the weekend as Husson recorded two wins over Little East schools. The junior keeper had 10 saves of 13 shots in a 1-0 shutout win over Eastern Connecticut State. Then recorded 13 saves against 13 shots in a 3-1 defeat of Southern Maine. (NOTE: Drew did not play in the two losses).

Brittany Morin, Thomas (Fr. M - Winslow, ME)
Brittany scored 4 goals against the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Saturday, helping the Terriers defeat UMFK 6-0. On Sunday, she tallied one goal during a 4-1 loss to UMPI.

Volleyball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Katie Clapham, Maine Maritime (Sr. OH/MH - Crawford, ME)
Clapham tallied 65 kills (3.8/game), 35 digs (2.1/game), four blocks and nine aces in four matches this week. The senior broke three school records setting marks with 23 kills in a match, 65 total attacks in a match, and 21 attacks in a single game.

Rachel Pinak, Becker (Fr. OH - Buffalo, NY)
Pinak led the Lady Hawks with a double -double. She had 17 kills and 16 digs in a loss to Mass Maritime (30-18, 30-28, 30-18). The rookie outside hitter is also the co-captain of this young team.

Men's Cross Country

RUNNER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Chris Gatchell, Castleton St. (Fr.-Waterford, ME)
Gatchell won his only meet of the week, taking the Castleton State Invitational (8K) in a time of 28:44. The next closest competitor to Gatchell finished in a time of 29:06.

Jeffrey Campbell, Johnson St. (Fr. - Hinesburg, VT)
Campbell placed 7th overall at Castleton State Invitational in his first collegiate race to help Johnson State to finish 2nd place team finish.

Women's Cross Country

RUNNER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Andra Spearrin, Maine-Farmington (Jr. - Skowhegan, ME
Spearrin finished 5th fifth overall in the UNE Cross Country Invitational Meet on September 10th. Spearrin, a junior from the University of Maine at Farmington, completed the course in a time of 20:45 placing her 5th, behind four women from Bowdoin, in a field 64.

Allison Robinson, Johnson St. (Fr. - Bethlehem, NH)
Robinson finished 2nd in her first ever collegiate race at the Castleton State Invitational.

Women's Tennis

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Danielle Royce, Johnson St. (Sr. - Morrisville, VT)
Playing in the #4 spot, Royce beat her Castleton State opponent 6-2, 6-1 to make her 2-0 in singles play this season.

Marissa Spooner, Becker (Fr. - Westport, MA)
Spooner went 3-0 last week for Becker. She led the Lady Hawks with a singles (6-2, 6-0) and doubles win (w/ Julie Arroyo, 8-3) in a 9-0 win over MCLA and she had the only win (6-3, 6-1) in a season opening loss to Nichols.
