Field Hockey

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Allison Jameson, WNEC
(Sr. Forward - Brattleboro, Vt.)

Jameson scored four points (three goals, one assist) as the Golden Bears captured their first two games of the season. She had two goals and an assist in a 4-3 win at Nichols and a goal in a 6-0 victory over Elms in the team's NAC opener.
Marie Amaral, Castleton State
(Fr, Forward - Barre, Vt.)

Amaral scored a pair of goals in Castleton's only game of the week, a 4-0 win over Becker. The goals were Amaral's first and second of her career.

Men's Soccer

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Brian Leighton, Mount Ida
(Soph. Goalkeeper - Turner, Maine)

Leighton posted his third straight shutout and fifth of his career, as Mount Ida edged Eastern Nazarene College 1-0 on Tuesday. He made nine saves and has not allowed a goal in 297 minutes, surrendering just two over Mount Ida?s first four contests.

Nda Kaslong, Elms
(Jr. Midfielder - Jos Nigeria)

Kaslong, a junior college transfer, netted his first goal of the season 2:18 into overtime to lift the Blazers to a 2-1 non-conference win over Fitchburg State College last Saturday.

Women's Soccer

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jen LeDoux, Elms
(Sr. Forward - East Hampton, Mass.)

LeDoux netted her first three goals of the season to help the Blazers to a 2-0 week. In last Tuesday's 3-1 win over Westfield State, LeDoux netted a goal, and added a pair of tallies in last Saturday's conference-opening 3-0 win at Becker.

Jodi Fralick, Lesley
(Fr. Forward - Woburn, Mass.)

Fralick had a hand in six of the Lynx seven goals in a 1-2 week. Against Maine-Farmington and Thomas, the freshman forward had all three of the Lynx goals and tallied two goals and an assist against Mitchell earlier in the week. Fralick ended the week with 5 goals and 1 assist.

Volleyball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Rachel Pinak, Becker
(So. Middle Hitter - Buffalo, N.Y.)

In four matches last week, a total of 14 games, Pinak led the Lady Hawks with 4.0 kills per game, 46 digs and 8 blocks. In a conference win over Castleton, Rachel had 18 kills, 2 serving aces, 12 digs and 2 blocks.

Lamesha Shackelford, Mount Ida
(Fr. Middle Hitter - Randolph, Mass.)

Shackelford piled up 3.1 kills per game, five service aces and four blocks to help Mount Ida to a perfect 3-0 mark last week. She posted a hitting percentage of .388 in 11 games played. Shackelford tallied 15 kills and four blocks, as the Mustangs edged Babson 3-2 on Thursday. She added nine kills in Mount Ida's 3-0 Conference opening win over Lesley University on Saturday and accumulated ten kills and three aces in a 3-0 victory over Bay Path College later that day.

Men's Cross Country

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Chris Gatchell, Castleton State
(Jr. Waterford, Maine)

Gatchell led Castleton in the NYU invitational on Saturday finishing 40th out of 294 competitors with an 8K time of 28:55. The Spartan men finished 20th out of 35 teams.

Brian York, Maine Maritime
(Fr. East Millinocket, Maine)

York finished in first place at UMaine-Presque Isle Invitational meet running the 4.96 mile course in a time of 32:05.

Women's Cross Country

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Elizabeth Hanlon, Castleton State
(Fr. Blackstone, Mass.)

Halnon led the Spartan women to a 13th place finish out of 28 teams competing in the NYU invitational. The freshman runner finished 29th out 262 competitors with a 5K time of 21:12.

Michelle Barrows, Johnson State
(Fr. Fairfax, Vt.)

Barrows helped the Badgers to a sixth-place team finish at the Middlebury College Invitational coming in 33rd place overall (26:56.7).

Women's Tennis

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Allison Flynn, Becker
(Fr. Wilmington, Mass.)

Flynn led the Hawks to a 2-0 record in NAC matches over the weekend. Playing as the team's #1 singles player, the freshman came from behind against Castleton State (4-6, 6-2, 10-5) and and defeated her Johnson State opponent (7-6 (7-5), 10-7). Flynn teamed with Lapin as the number one doubles team and swept both NAC matches as well, winning 8-6, 8-2 respectively.

Lindsay Lapin, Becker
(Fr. Lancaster, Mass.)

As Becker's #2 singles player, Lapin  went 2-0 against her Castleton State (6-3, 6-2) and Johnson State (6-3, 6-0) opponents. Lapin teamed with Flynn as the number one doubles team and swept both NAC matches as well, winning 8-6, 8-2 respectively.
