Men's Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Shawn Fuller, Becker
(Sophomore, Guard - New Haven, Conn.)

Fuller averaged 31.3 points for the Hawks last week. Fuller set a school record with 53 points in a 4 overtime 102-98 win over Mitchell College on Saturday. Shawn shot 58% (19-33) from the floor and 89% (8-9) from the line in the game and scored 24 of the teams 38 overtime points. In two North Atlantic Conference games Fuller had a game high 32 points, 4 steals and 3 rebounds against Elms and poured in 19 points against Lasell. Overall for the week Fuller shot 55% from the field and 87% from the free throw line.

Josh Tanguay, Maine-Farmington
(Freshman, Forward - Gorham, Maine)

Tanguay continued his strong rookie season with a pair of key performances for UMF this past week. At Maine Maritime, Tanguay pulled down nine rebounds to go along with six points. On Saturday in a key victory against Mt. Ida, Tanguay recorded his fourth double-double of the season, scoring 10 points with 10 rebounds. He shot 60.0% from the floor, averaging 8points and 9.5 boards in the two contests.

Co-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Beth Pion, Becker
(Sophomore, Forward - Enfield, Conn.)

Pion averaged a double double with 25.6 points, 14 rebounds, 5.6 blocks, 3.3 assists and 2 steals for the Lady Hawks who went 1-2 last week. In an overtime loss to Lasell College, the sophomore had a game high 24 points, 15 rebounds and 6 blocks while shooting 59% (10-17) from the field. In the teams 79-69 win over conference foe Elms, Pion scored 23 points, had a game high 15 rebounds with 5 blocks and 8 assists. In an 87-78 loss to Mitchell on Saturday, she had a team high 30 points, a game high 11 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Claudia Martineau, Johnson State
(Freshman, Center - Washington, Vt.)

In a 3-0 week for Johnson State Martineau averaged 22.7 ppg, 10 rpg, 1.7 bpg, and 1.3 spg. Martineau scored 19 pts and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Badgers victory of division leader Castleton State. She followed that up with a 29-point, 10-rebound effort in a win over Lesley and then she had 20 pts and nine rebounds in their victory over Bay Path.

Caitlyn Laflin, Maine-Farmington
(Freshman, Forward - Farmingdale, Maine)

Laflin enjoyed another productive week with the Beavers, as UMF knocked off Maine Maritime for the second time in as many weeks and then defeated Mt. Ida on the weekend to improve to 14-0 in conference play. In those two games, Laflin averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals, shooting 61.9% from the field. Against MMA, Laflin scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds and added a game-high five steals and on Saturday, she shot 7-of-9 from the floor and scored 17 points in just 18 minutes of action. She also had four boards.
