NAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Julia Ostrowski, Saint Joseph's College (Me.)
(Junior, Forward - Albany, NY)
Ostrowski scored three goals and added an assist in the season-opening 8-0 victory over Regis College on September 6th in Standish.

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Brittany Moore, Thomas College
(Freshman, Forward - North Berwick, Maine)
Brittany started off her collegiate weekend with scoring the lone goal of Thomas'3-1 loss vs. Fitchburg state on Saturday. She then went on to lead Thomas to thier first game of the year with two goals and one assist vs Regis College on Sunday.

NAC Golf Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mike Hersey, Husson University
(FR, - Presque Isle, ME)
The Eagles tied a school record with a team score of 287 led by Hersey 68 in winning the U. Maine Presque Tournament. Hersey was medlist in his first collegiate match.

NAC Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Darren Roberge, Lyndon State
(Jr., - Sheldon, Vt.)
Darren Roberge, a junior from Sheldon, VT - scored all three goals in 3-0 win over Maine-Presque Isle in the consolation game of the UMPI Tournament. Roberge was named to All-Tournament Tea for his efforts

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sean Raph, Me.-Farmington
(SO, F - Fairfield, ME)
Raph scored the game-winning goal in the Beavers' 3-0 season-opening victory over Unity on Thursday.

NAC Women's Soccer Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Samantha Homer, Husson University
(JR, F - Charlton, MA)
The Eagles recorded a 6-0 win over Purchase College, NY in their only game this week. Homer scored 4 goals and one assist in the victory which pushed the Eagles to 3-0.

NAC Women's Tennis Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Michelle Podnecky, Castleton State College
(Fr., #1 Singles/#1 Doubles - Bridgewater, VT)
Podnecky led Castleton a perfect 3-0 week with three wins in #1 singles, and three wins in #1 doubles. The freshman dropped just eight total games in the three singles matches, including a 6-0, 6-1 win over the 2007 NAC Tournament Runner-up. In doubles Podnecky teamed with classmate, Kate Bucci for the three wins.

NAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Danielle O'Brien, Me.-Farmington
(SR, MH - Calais, Maine)
Despite a 3-1 week for the Beavers, O'Brien opened strong with 35 kills and six errors in 79 attempts for a .367 hitting average. O'Brien collected 13 kills with eight digs in a 3-2 win over NAC preseason favorite Husson on Saturday.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Heather Moore, Maine Maritime Academy
(Freshman, setter - Macedon, N.Y.)
Heather had an outstanding weekend and was named to the Colby College Invitational All-Tournament team for her efforts. The freshman setter collected 43 assists, 8 kills, and 8 digs in the three matches MMA played.

NAC Cross Country Weekly Honors

MEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Jon Preuss, Johnson State College
(Sr., - Boonton Township, N.J.)
Jon Preuss paced Johnson State and finished 12th overall at the Castleton Invitational on Sunday. Preuss finished with a time of 32:02.22 in an incomplete team finish.

 

MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Django Koenig, Johnson State College
(So., - Plainfield, Vt.)
Django Koenig raced to a 29th place overall finish in his first collegiate race in an incomplete team finish for Johnson State. Koenig finished the race with a time of 36:41.37.

 

WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Maggie Klein, Castleton State College
(Jr., - Castleton, VT)
Klein picked up the first collegiate win of her career at the Spartan Invitational on her home course. Klein's 5K time of 20:20 bested her closest competitor in the field of 45 by seven seconds, and led Castleton to the team win.

 

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jasmine Yuris, Johnson State College
(Fr., - Moodus, Conn.)
Yuris finished 19th overall in a time of 25:34.07 in her first college race helping the Badgers to a 5th place team finish at the Castleton Invitational on Sunday.
