NAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kaeleigh Barker, Me.-Farmington
(SR, GK - Chichester, NH)
Barker earned a pair of wins in the Beavers' 2-0 week. The senior
netminder made seven saves in a 2-1 win over NAC foe Husson on
Saturday and stopped eight shots in a 3-1 victory over in-state
rival Southern Maine on Wednesday.
Co-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
Christine Thornton, Lasell College
(FR, GK - Canton, MA)
Thornton started as Lasell's goalkeeper in both contests this week
against Plymouth State University and Castleton State College. She
had 12 saves against PSU and 16 saves against Castleton, for 28
total saves. Though Lasell went 0-2 this week, Thornton played
extremely well for the Lasers, in two tough matchups.
Sarah Bartell, Saint Joseph's College
(Me.)
(Freshman, Forward - Exeter, NH)
Bartell scored her first collegiate goal in a 4-3 loss to
University of New England on September 16th.

NAC Golf Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chris Hamel, Husson
(Sophomore, Waterville, ME)
The Eagles won three tournaments this week, U. Maine Farmington Invitational, State of Maine Championship, and the Colby College Classic. Hamel was medalist in the State of Maine Tournament with a two day total of 152 (75-77). He followed that up by finishing first in the Colby College Classic. He and team mate Chris Coffin combined for a 68 in a two man best ball format. In the UMF Invitational Hamel shot a 79 to finish 7th overall.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Mike Herse, Husson
(First Year, Presque Isle, ME)
The Eagles won three tournaments this week, U. Maine Farmington Invitational, State of Maine Championship, and the Colby College Classic. Hersey had two top ten finishes. In the UMF invitational he finished 2nd with a 76. His two day total of 161 (76-85) was good for a top ten finish in the State of Maine Championship. He did not play in the Colby College Classic.

NAC Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Pelletier, Me.-Farmington
(JR, M - Orrington, ME)
Pelletier led the Beavers to a 3-1 win over NAC foe Maine Maritime
Academy on Saturday. The junior midfielder had a hand in all three
scores for Farmington with a goal and two assists in their only
game of the week.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kaleb Willis, Johnson State
College
(Fr., MF - Phillipsburg, N.J.)
Kaleb Willis scored a goal and assisted on another in the Badgers
conference win over Green Mountain College. The points were the
first of Willis' career.

NAC Women's Soccer Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Taylor Riso, Green Mountain
College
(Freshmen, Forward - Portland, OR)
Taylor Riso scored a hat trick in Green Mountain's 3-0 victory
over Johnson State this Saturday in their only game of the week.
Her 3 goals accounted for all of the scoring in the contest, and
helped Green Mountain claim their first victory in NAC conference.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Courtney Chadburn, Castleton State
College
(So., Forward - North Clarendon, VT)
Chadburn continued to show her scoring prowess in her first
collegiate season, scoring five goals in a 1-1 week for Castleton.
In a 3-2 loss to MCLA, Chadburn tallied one goal that tied the
score at the time. In her first career conference game, Chadburn
scored four times, including the game winner, as Castleton defeated
Lyndon State on homecoming weekend.

NAC Women's Tennis Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Michelle Podnecky, Castleton State
College
(Fr., #1 Singles/#1 Doubles - Bridgewater, VT)
In Castleton's only match of the week, a 9-0 win at Johnson State,
Podnecky was once again near perfect. In #1 singles she won in
straight-sets, 6-4, 6-0. She then teamed with classmate, Kate
Bucci, for an 8-0 win in #1 doubles. Podnecky is a perfect 6-0 in
both #1 singles and doubles to start her career.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kate Bucci, Castleton State College
(Fr., #2 singles/#1 doubles - Wakefield, RI)
Bucci helped the Spartans to a 9-0 win over Johnson State in their
only match of the week. The freshman dropped just one game in the
match, winning #2 singles 6-1, 6-0 before teaming with Michelle
Podnecky for an 8-0 win in #1 doubles. Bucci is a perfect 6-0 in
both #2 singles and #1 doubles to start her career.

NAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

Co-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Marion Kish, Husson University
(JR, S - Wallingford, CT)
The Eagles were 3-0 this week including 2-0 in NAC play. Kish
recorded a career high of 34 assists in a win over Green Mountian
College. She finished the week with 80 assists, 6 kills, 17 service
aces, and 22 digs.
Amy Young, Maine Maritime Academy
(Junior, Middle Hitter - Cumberland, ME)
Amy led MMA to a 3-0 week and a share of the top spot in the NAC
standings. The junior middle hitter collected 35 kills with only 5
attack errors and a hitting percentage of 41%. Young also collected
9 assists, 7 aces, and 16 digs. The junior had an amazing 33
reception attempts in the 3 matches with only 3 errors. In MMA's
match against Green Mountain College she recorded 16 kills, 3
assists, 4 aces, 6 digs and block assist.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Lauren Sakahara, Maine Maritime
Academy
(Freshman, Libero - Bellevue, WA)
The freshman Libero added another accolade to her already fast
start to her collegiate career. In MMA's victory over Green
Mountain Sakahara collected a school record 30 digs on their way to
a 3-1 match win. The freshman had 60 digs in three matches this
week and had only 5 reception errors in 49 reception attempts this
week. She also collected 6 aces and 6 kills from the back row.

NAC Cross Country Weekly Honors

MEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Cam Betts, Me.-Farmington
(FR, - Gray, ME)
Betts finished 117th at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational Saturday
to lead the Beavers. Betts toured the five-mile course in 27:32 --
a top 10 time in school history for the distance.
MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Django Koenig, Johnson State
College
(Fr., - Plainfield, Vt.)
Koenig ran to a 236th place finish at UMass Dartmouth and helped
JSC to a 38th place team finish. Koenig ran the 8K race in 31:21.
WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Maggie Klein, Castleton State
College
(Jr., - Castleton, VT)
Klein ran a career-best 19:25 in the 5,000 meter women's race at
the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. Her time was good enough for 37th
place out of the 310 entries.
WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Melani St. Pierre, Me.-Farmington
(FR, - Charlestown, NH)
St. Pierre paced the Beavers with an 88th-place finish at the
UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. St. Pierre finished with a time of
19:58 on the 5K course.
