Simmons' Rego Repeats As NAC Field Hockey Player of the Year
Simmons College senior midfielder Tanya Rego was selected North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Year for the second consecutive season in a vote by the conference coaches. Rego, a three-time first team all-conference honoree, leads the conference with 20 goals on the year including 15 during league play.
Western New England freshman Caitlin Gelber was chosen as the conference Rookie of the Year. Gelber led all first year players with 10 goals on the season. The forward also added five assists for the Bears who finished regular season play undefeated.
Castleton State head coach Tammy Landon was voted NAC Coach of the Year by her peers. In her second season, Landon led the Spartans to an 7-8 regular season mark a year after finishing 4-14. Saturday, Castleton State won its first ever NAC field hockey tournament contest.
Wheelock College was honored with the Team Sportsmanship Award. NAC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches.
