Husson's Wickenden Earns Division III PING All-American Honorable Mention
Husson sophmoroe Daulton Wickenden (Rockport, Maine) has been named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III PING All-American. Wickenden, named to the Honorable Mention team, becomes the second straight Husson men's golfer selected to the All-American team by the GCAA.
Wickenden is the second Eagle player in program history in the NCAA era to achieve this honor, while becoming the program's sixth All-American selection and the 60th different Husson student-athlete to garner All-American status. The 60 student-athletes have combined for a total of 80 All-American selections in Husson University Athletics history.
This season, Wickenden captured medalist honors, as he carded the lowest score at the 2016 NAC Men's Golf Championship that was held at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course in Bangor, Maine helping Husson capture their 11th NAC Championship in the last 13 years. His two-day score of 141 was enough to beat out the next student-athlete by three strokes for the NAC individual crown and to claim the 2016 NAC Golfer of the Year. The 2015 NAC Rookie of the Year also claimed medalist honors for the second straight year at the 2016 Maine Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship earlier this season. Impressively he shot a six-under par, 136, to help his team take home runner-up honors. Wickenden was selected NAC Golfer of the Week three times this season, adding to his five NAC honors last season.
