Elms Wins Second Consecutive Softball Championship
Junior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits and striking out four batters to earn the NAC Softball Tournament MVP award Sunday afternoon. Elms took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 5th inning, and Lasell answered in the bottom of the 5th to even the score 1-1. Elms added three runs in the top of the sixth inning with a lead-off double from junior Christina Giampetruzzi (Westfield, MA) who would later score on a double from sophomore Danielle LaPlante (Chicopee, MA) who knocked a line drive to left field.
In the bottom of the sixth inning the Lasers would get one more run, to make the score 4-2 going into the seventh inning. The Laser defense held the score to 4-2 and Lasell was down to their last three outs. Rookie pitcher Jackie Losseff (Toms River, NJ) led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, followed by a double from sophomore Katlyn Billian (East Meadow, NY). Sophomore Tiffany Perla (Westminster, MA) would walk to load the bases after sophomore Ashley Leal (S. Dartmouth, MA) struck out swinging. With bases loaded and one out, sophomore Heather Rose (West Roxbury, MA) knocked a ball to second base which was caught and then thrown to first for the double play to end the game on a very close decision.
For Lasell, Losseff pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out one. Senior Jayme Rautenberg (Waltham, MA) went 2 for 3 on the afternoon and sophomore Katlyn Billian (East Meadow, NY) also played well going 2 for 3 with an RBI and two doubles. For Elms, junior Karyn Palomba (Enfield, CT) had two hits and a runs scored.
Elms College will advance to the NCAA tournament, finishing their season 18-11 overall and 9-3 in the NAC. Lasell College wraps up their spring 27-14 overall and 11-1 in the NAC and will await a decision regarding the ECAC tournament.

Elms Advances to NAC Softball Finals
Newton, MA - In dramatic fashion, the Blazers held on to a one run lead in the seventh inning to defeat the University of Maine Farmington 7-6 in the NAC Semi-finals. Elms advances to the championship round on Sunday, while Farmington will face Lasell College at 3:30 Saturday afternoon in the knock-out round.
Farmington junior pitcher Megan Carman (Unity, ME) pitched two innings, allowing nine hits, five runs and walking one batter. Sophomore Liz Bergeron (Milford, ME) pitched the last five innings, allowing five hits, two runs and striking out eight. Junior Megan Goodrow (Oakland, ME) went 3 for 4 with three RBI and a double while sophomore Sarah Defilipp (Brewer, ME) went 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored. Farmington finished their season 15-9 overall.
Elms saw offensive production from several players including rookie Ally Graffum (Ipswich, MA) who had two RBI?s, and going 2 for 4 on the day. Junior Karyn Palomba (Enfield, CT) also had two hits along with two runs scored in four appearances at the plate. Elms junior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) pitched seven innings allowing 12 hits three earned runs and registered three strike-outs.
Elms improves to 17-11 overall and will advance to the NAC Championship game Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Lasers Advance to NAC Championship, Defeating Farmington 3-1
Newton, MA - Rookie pitcher Nicole Slader (N. Smithfield, RI) allowed just one run and three hits in seven innings for Lasell College to help advance them to the NAC Championship against Elms College Sunday afternoon on Taylor field at 11:00 a.m. Sophomore short stop Heather Rose (West Roxbury, MA) had a very busy afternoon with four put-outs and eight assists along with two hits and a run scored. Lasell senior Jayme Rautenberg (Waltham, MA) went 2 for 3 with a double and senior Shawna Kelly (Windham, CT) went 2 for 2 with two RBI in the clutch.
For Maine Farmington, sophomore pitcher Sarah Defilipp (Brewer, ME) pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and striking out six. Sophomore Lauren Overlook (Belfast, ME), junior Kelly McDonough (Windham, ME) and junior Breanna Connors (Madison, ME) each had a hit for the Beavers. Farmington ends their season at 15-9 overall.
The Lasers advance to the NAC Championship to face Elms College at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The Lasers must win two games Sunday to capture the championship.

Elms Takes Game From Lasell 3-0
Newton, MA - Elms College advanced to Saturday's semi-final game after blanking the Lasers Friday afternoon. Elms scored a run in the first after Lasell's pitcher Nicole Slader (North Smithfield, RI) walked freshman lead-off batter Kim Lastowski (Turners Falls, MA) who eventually scored. Lasell threatened to score a few times, but were unable to knock anyone home. For Elms, junior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) pitched seven scoreless innings, allowed five hits and struck out two. For Lasell, Slader pitcher seven innings allowing eight hits and striking out three. Lastowski went 2 for 3 on the afternoon with one runs scored, sophomore Kerrie Bowden (Chicopee, MA) went 2 for 4 and junior Karyn Palomba (Enfield, CT) knocked in two RBI going 1 for 3 on the afternoon.
Elms improves to 16-11 overall and they will face Maine-Farmington Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Lasers drop to 25-13 and will face an elimination game at 4:00 against Husson College.
Maine Farmington Defeats Husson 6-3 to Advance
Newton, MA - Farmington's sophomore pitcher Sarah Defilipp (Brewer, ME) pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out eight as the Beavers advance to play on Saturday in the double elimination NAC Championship. Farmington sophomore Lauren Overlook (Belfast, ME) led the offense, going 3 for 4 with three runs, a home run and one RBI and junior Kelly McDonough (Windham, ME) added two hits and an RBI.
For Husson, junior Shawna Bell (Corinth, ME) went 2 for 3 with a run scored and senior pitcher Alicia LaGrange (Belgrade, ME) pitched seven innings, striking out two and allowing 11 hits.
Maine Farmington improves to 15-7 overall and they will face Elms College Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Laser Win in Extra Innings 6-5 Over Husson and Advance to Saturday
Newton, MA ? Sophomore Tiffany Perla (Westminster, MA) knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to help propel the Lasers over the Husson Hawks. Perla went 4 for 5 on the afternoon with three RBI?s a double and a run scored. Sophomore Heather Rose also had a busy afternoon, knocking a two run triple in the fifth inning to get a rally started for Lasell, who was trailing 0-5. Three more runs were scored in the fifth to tie the game at 5-5 and send it into extra innings. Rookie pitcher Jackie Losseff (Toms River, NJ) win her 12th game, pitching all eight innings, allowing six hits and five strike-outs.
For Husson, pitcher Alicia LaGrange (Belgrade, ME) pitched 6 and two-thirds innings, striking out three and allowing six hits and only one walk. Rookie Cassie Berry (Darmiscotta, ME) went 2 for 4 with a home run and an RBI while junior Jane Pruett (Manchester, ME) went 2 for 2 with a run scored.
Husson finishes their season 14-21 overall, while Lasell improves to 26-13 and advances to Saturday?s semi-final at 3:00.

Lasell to Host NAC Softball Tournament Championship
Lasell sophomore Tiffany Perla hit a two run home run to right field in the fourth inning lead the Lasers past Maine Maritime 3-1 in the NAC quarterfinals held Tuesday. With the victory, Lasell will host the NAC Softball Championship beginning Friday, May 4.
The Lasers will play the opening game of the tournament on Friday at 12:00 p.m. against Elms. The Blazers defeated Thomas 7-2 in quarterfinal action. Maine-Farmington will meet Husson in Game 2 on Friday scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. The Beavers, who finished atop the East Division standings, were pushed to 9 innings to defeat Lesley 9-8. Husson got past Castleton 10-5 in quarterfinal action.
The losers of Friday's first two contests will meet at 4:00 p.m. with the winners playing at Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Game five is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday with Game 6 on Sunday, May 6 at 11:00 am. Game 7, if necessary, will be played 1:00 p.m. All contests will be held at Lasell. Game times are subject to change. The NAC Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Pairings Announced for NAC Softball Championship
After completing conference play, Lasell and Maine-Farmington earned the top seeds in their respective divisions in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament. The top four teams from each division qualify for the NAC Championship. Teams are reseeded taking into account divisional and non-divisional conference contests entering the semifinals.
Lasell ended the regular season with a 11-1 mark in conference play, 23-12 overall. As the West division top seed, the Lasers will host Maine Maritime (4-15 overall, 3-7 NAC) when tournament play begins this Tuesday, May 1. West division second seed Elms (14-11 overall, 9-3 NAC) will host East division third seed Thomas (11-17 overall, 7-3 NAC).
West division fourth seed Lesley (17-12 overall, 7-5 NAC) will travel to East division top seed Maine-Farmington (13-7 overall, 9-1 NAC). Castleton (16-8 overall, 9-3 NAC) earned the third seed in the West and will travel to second seed Husson (13-19 overall, 8-2 NAC).
The top four teams from each division qualify for the NAC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams. Teams are then re-seeded entering the semifinal round based on similar seeding criteria. The top seed will host the tournament with contests beginning at 12:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4. Game times are subject to change. The NAC Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.
