NAC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Taylor DeSanty, Colby-Sawyer

DeSanty led the Chargers in three road wins with 28.3 points per game. She also led the team in shooting (52.7%) from the floor and from the free throw line (90.5%). She began the week with 19 points and six boards in an important 65-46 road win at NEC. Taylor then scored a Colby-Sawyer single game record 38 points in a 75-52 win at Maine-Farmington. She connected on 13 of 18 field-goal attempts and all nine of her free throws. She finished the week with a game-high 28 points, including five treys, in a 101-80 road win at Thomas. DeSanty averaged 5.7 boards per game.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jasmin Amaral, Lyndon
(Fr, G - Westport, Mass.)
Amaral had 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and one blocked shot as Lyndon defeated Johnson State 76-43 in the Hornets' lone game of the week on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
AROUND THE NAC
Castleton swept a pair of road games from Maine Maritime and Husson this weekend extending its winning streak to 10 games. The 73-50 win over the Eagles marked the first time the Spartans have won at Husson since taking the 2009 NAC Championship. Christine Jaques averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the two wins, while senior classmate Vanessa Powers added 13.5 points and nine rebounds per contest. The Spartans will take on Green Mountain Saturday in their only contest of the week.
Colby-Sawyer picked up three impressive road wins last week over NEC, Maine-Farmington, and Thomas. Taylor DeSanty scored a school record 38 points at UMF and has moved into 8th on the Chargers' all-time scoring list. Cailin Bullett tied a school record with 13 assists against Thomas. She averaged 15.7 points, 8.7 assists, and 5 steals per game last week. The Chargers host Husson and Maine Maritime this weekend.
UMF collected two conference victories in a 2-1 week over Maine Maritime and New England College. Kenni Norton led the Beavers with 14.7 points per game and 11 steals with Paige Saunders averaging 11.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.
Green Mountain went 0-2 this past week in NAC action. On Friday, the team lost to Husson, 81-62 and then dropped a 61-52 decision to Maine Maritime on Saturday afternoon. Forward Sierra Pease led the Eagles by averaging 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals per game.
Husson University's women's basketball team split a pair of NAC contests at home this weekend. Husson secured the season sweep in the 'Battle of the Eagles' on Friday, taking down Green Mountain 81-62, but on Saturday, dropped a tough one to the NAC-leading Spartans of Castleton. The Eagles will step out of conference play on Tuesday, taking on Colby at 7:00 pm before traveling to New Hampshire for a pivotal match-up with Colby-Sawyer at 5:30 pm on Friday, and a contest with New England College at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
Johnson State had an 0-2 week to now stand at 4-16, 2-11 North Atlantic Conference. JSC lost at NAC foe Lyndon State on Tuesday 76-43 and then stepped out of conference to play at Plymouth State on Thursday and were defeated 66-49.
Lyndon's Naomi White poured in 20 points, including the 1,000th of her career, to propel the Hornets to a 76-43 win over Johnson State on Tuesday, Jan. 31. It was the Hornets lone contest of the week. The win improves Lyndon to 7-12 overall and 5-8 in the North Atlantic Conference.
Maine Maritime allowed a pair of second-half leads get away from them in a 1-2 week. The Mariners fell 60-58 to Maine-Farmington in the conclusion to a game that began on January 10, and then dropped a 61-56 decision to Castleton. After seeing two season series swept away, the Mariners returned the favor, defeating Green Mountain 61-52 for the program's 250th win. MMA will face New England College and Colby-Sawyer this weekend.
New England College women's basketball went 1-2 this past week in conference play, losing to Colby-Sawyer College 46-65 and University of Maine at Farmington 55-68 and grabbed a victory against Thomas College 89-66. Contributing to the Pilgrims loss to Colby-Sawyer College was Taylor Burgess who finished the night with ten points and 11 rebounds and Kate Levy who had 11 points. Helping the Pilgrims to an 89-66 win over Thomas College was Rachel Williams who had 18 points and Jessie Ledy who had 12 points on the night. Standing out in the Pilgrims loss to University of Maine at Farmington was Danika Johnson who finished the night with 11 points.
Thomas dropped two conference games this week first to NEC on Friday evening and to Colby-Sawyer on Saturday afternoon. Senior Karin Bird continues her impressive season hitting double figures in both games to remain on top of the NCAA for points per game average with 25.3.
