The National SAAC represents the student athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation; identifying significant student athlete issues; implementing national student athlete based initiatives; encouraging community outreach; and enhancing Division III student athlete involvement in and understanding of Division III in general.  The SAAC is also the committee that is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division’s nationwide partnership with Special Olympics.  The committee meets in-person four times each year in January, April, July and November.  It also conducts teleconferences as needed.

National SAAC consists of 24 student athletes who represent each of the Division III conferences and independent schools. Members represent their own conference plus a partner conference. The North Atlantic Conference's partner is the North East Athletic Conference (NEAC). Partner conferences rotate representation in the national group and as associate members. The NAC and NEAC were represented by Nicole Monik, a NVU-Johnson women's tennis student athlete, through the January 2019 convention at which point Michael Litz, a men's tennis student athlete at NEAC institution Penn State Abbington, took over through January 2021. During Litz's tenure, NAC student athlete Cassie Contigiani (Thomas, women's soccer) will serve as an associate member of the National SAAC and will attend the meetings in January and July, as well as participate on conference calls.
