The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently teamed up with the York Middle School in Maine for the conference’s annual community service event. Together 15 student-athletes, from nine member schools, participated in the day-long event.
The SAAC and the York Harbor Middle School worked together to coordinate a day where special education students within the district came to the school to join the NAC SAAC group for an eventful day of fun activities. Among the planned activities were fun physical group activities followed by an afternoon of arts and crafts, and holiday cookie decorating. The student-athletes also had a surprise at the end for all of the students, they all received NAC sunglasses (pictured above).
Kristin Cannon, a SAAC advisor from Johnson State College, helped the NAC organize the community service and felt that it was a very successful event.
"I am honored to have been witness to this event that was facilitated by the conference, but created and organized by our own student-athletes.”
Cannon also noted “Johnson State student-athletes Matt Dekens and Steven Lamonde put hours of work in to make this opportunity possible and without them and the other amazing NAC student-athletes, these middle school students wouldn't have enjoyed such a special day."
