Defensive Player of the Week - Tiffany Weeks, Thomas (Sr., F - Kennebunk, Maine)


Tiffany Weeks led the Thomas backend in Friday's 4-1 win, allowing USM just three shots on goal and four penalty corner opportunities. She then anchored the Thomas defense against a strong Skidmore opponent, recording a defensive save, in a 4-0 loss on Saturday.

     
 

Player and Rookie of the Week - Britney Gregoire, Thomas (Fr., F - Kennebunk, Maine)

Britney Gregoire scored twice in a span of less than a minute to lead Thomas to a 4-1 season opening victory over USM on Friday. Gregoire's goal at the 62:11 mark broke a 1-1 tie and served as the game-winner. She then followed up 38 seconds later with the insurance goal to go up 3-1.

Player of the Week - Joseph Holloway, Northern Vermont-Johnson (So., M/F - Essex County, England)

Joe Holloway scored 3 goals and had an assist over a 2-0 weekend for the Badgers. He accounted for all 3 goals in a 3-2 win vs Vermont Tech on Friday including the game winning goal. On Sunday he scored another goal vs Paul Smith's to give him 7 pts on the week.

     
 

Defensive Player of the Week - Kyle Townsend, Husson (Jr., GK - Hampden, Maine)

Holding Wentworth to a 1-1 draw through double overtime in Husson's season opener, junior Kyle Townsend recorded six saves in net for the Eagles. After the first weekend of the 2018-19 season, Townsend shut down eight shots, giving up only two goals in 200 minutes while helping the Eagles take a 2-1 victory over Becker on Sunday.
 

     
 

Rookie of the Week - Dustin Brown, Canton (Fr, D - Mastic, N.Y.)

Brown scored the game-winner 53 seconds into the second overtime to lift the Roos to a 1-0 win against Wells College. The goal was the first collegiate goal in the first game at SUNY Canton for the rookie defender. He also helped the Roos keep their opponents scoreless for the first 190 minutes of the season.

Player of the Week - Kelsey Cauchon, Northern Vermont-Johnson (So., F - Colchester, Vt.)

Kelsey Cauchon scored 2 goals on Friday in a 2-0 win over Vermont Tech. She continued the scoring spree on Sunday vs. Paul Smith's College by netting a penalty kick in the first half to help surge the Badgers past Paul Smith's for a 2-0 win. She is shooting .333 after two games.

     
 

Defensive Player of the Week - Ryan Schubert, Canton (Jr., D - Centereach, N.Y.)

Schubert scored just her second collegiate goal and first in two years as she got the Roos off to a 1-0 lead on their way to a 3-1 win v. Southern Vermont. The junior captain also helped solidify a back line that gave up just two goals in more than 180 minutes of action.
 

     
   

Rookie of the Week - Katherine Hoving, Thomas (Fr., F - Bristol, Maine)

Katherine Hoving scored in each of the Terriers games this weekend, as Thomas went 1-1 at the Husky Challenge. Hoving notched the Terriers' first goal of the season in a 2-1 overtime loss to Morrisville State on Friday, then went on to score the game-winner in their 2-0 victory over Mitchell on Saturday.

Golfer of the Week - Gavin Dugas, Husson (Sr. - Pittsfield, Maine))

While competing against 87 student-athletes from 16 different schools in the Transylvania Fall Invitational this past weekend, senior Gavin Dugas earned medalist honors, coming out on top after three rounds of golf. Shooting 6-under overall, Dugas recorded a three-round score of 210 (70-72-68).

     
 

Rookie of the Week - Zach Barrett, Delhi (So. - West Winfield, N.Y.)

 

Barrett finished fifth in Delhi's two-day weekend dual match vs. The Apprentice School, shooting a 76 and 74 for an eight-over-par total. The Broncos overcame a one stroke deficit on day one to defeat the Builders by 13 strokes, 598-611.

Player of the Week - Marissa Ixtlahuac, SUNY Canton (Jr., MB - Carthage, N.Y.)

Ixtlahuac posted 44 kills (3.14/set) hitting a remarkable .302 (44-18-86) in a perfect 4-0 week for the Roos as they captured the Best Western Plus-Ground Round Cardinal Classic hosted by Plattsburgh State. The junior was named to the All-Tournament Team after the Canton dropped just two sets over four matches including three straight sweeps. Ixtlahuac posted a career-high 18 kills and hit .577 (18-3-26) in a thrilling five set win v. the Cardinals (3-1). She then posted seven, eight and 11 kills in sweeps v. Sage, Plymouth State and Utica.

     
   

Defensive Player of the Week - Maria Perez, Maine Maritime (Jr., L - San Juan, Puerto Rico)

Perez was instrumental in the Mariners' 3-0 week, leading all players in three matches in digs with 49 total digs (5.44 d/s). In the Mariners' 3-0 win over Southern Maine the reigning NAC Defensive Player of the Year tallied 15 digs, one ace, one kill, and one assist. On Saturday in the 3-0 win over UNE, Perez tallied 21 digs, two aces, and an assist. In the Mariners' first-ever three set win over Saint Joseph's College of Maine, the libero recorded 13 digs and three assists.

 

     
   

Rookie of the Week - Rachel Melampy, Maine Maritime (Fr., OH - Duxbury, Mass.)

Melampy made an immediate impact on the Mariners squad this week, leading the team to a 3-0 opening weekend and the programs first-ever three set win over Saint Joseph's College of Maine, while averaging a double-double. The freshman outside hitter totaled 43 kills (4.78 k/s), 37 digs (4.11 d/s), five total blocks, three service aces and one assist. Against the University of Southern Maine, she tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, and added two aces, and two blocks. Against the University of New England, the freshman tallied a match-high 17 kills and 16 digs while also adding two blocks, and an ace. In the Mariners' final match of the week she registered 15 kills, 10 digs, one assist and a block.
