Player of the Week

DeAndre Duncombe, UMaine-Presque Isle

(Sophomore, G - Port St. Lucie, Florida)

Duncombe helped UMaine-Presque Isle to a 2-0 start in the Thomas College Charlie Ryan Classic, leading the Owls on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court with 45 points and 15 rebounds over the two-game weekend. Duncombe put up 22 points, including five-for-seven three-pointers and three-for-four free throws, along with five rebounds and a steal against Norwich. He had a double-double the following day with 23 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four assists and another steal.



Defensive Player of the Week

Justice Kendall, Husson

(Freshman, G - Baltimore, Md.)

In his first game as an Eagle, Kendall swooped in to grab five defensive rebounds and six steals to help Husson tip-off their season with an 86-59 win. He also dished out six assists and put up six points in 27 minutes on the court.


Rookie of the Week 

DeMerrill Levy, Maine Maritime

(Freshman, G - Houston, Texas)

Levy had an impressive opening weekend with the Mariners, averaging 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and three assists per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor. In the Mariners' first season opening victory in eight years, Levy tallied 18 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. He followed that up on Saturday with a game-high 29 points, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc, and added three rebounds and two assists.





Player of the Week

Alissa Mitchell, Northern Vermont-Lyndon

(Junior, F - Milton, N.H.)

Mitchell led the Hornets to a pair of wins over the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) and Vermont Tech in the NVU Tip-Off Classic to open the season. In the win against St. Joe's, she put up 22 points shooting 60% from the floor, including four-for-four behind the arc. Mitchell also had nine rebounds, five assists and a block in 39 minutes on the court. In the win against Vermont Tech, Mitchell played 36 minutes, pulled down nine rebounds and also had two steals and a block. Across the weekend, she was 77.8% from the charity stripe, averaged 14.5 points per game, logged 29 points, 18 rebounds (13 defensive), two steals, two blocks, and was named to the All-Tournament Team.


Defensive Player of the Week

Mikayla Charters, Maine Maritime

(Senior, G - Newport, Maine)

Charters was a big defensive contributor for the Mariners this week as the team went 2-0 at the Keene State Tip-Off Tournament and claimed the championship at the event. The senior guard was a big part of the Mariner defense that held both opponents to less than 50 points, and drew a number of chargers on the defensive side of the floor. She also pulled down six defensive rebounds and dished out three assists while totaling seven points over the two games.


Rookie of the Week 

Lea Crompton, Northern Vermont-Lyndon

(Freshman, G - Dunbarton, NH)

Crompton was the leading scorer for the Hornets in the NVU Tip-Off Classic, putting up 34 points in the Hornets defeat of the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) and Vermont Tech. In the first game, she shot 50% from the floor for 21 points including 2-for-2 behind the arc, and hit 11 of 12 free throws. She also tacked on three assists, a rebound and a steal. Crompton scored 13 points and landed all six free throws against Vermont Tech, and also pulled down six rebounds, a steal and had six assists. She is shooting 94.4% from the free throw line so far, and totaled 34 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and two steals in the first two games.
