Player of the Week

Wilburn Griffiths, UMaine-Presque Isle

(Junior, F - Queens, NY)

Griffiths was instrumental in a road win at UMaine-Fort Kent and a home victory over UMaine-Machias as the Owls improved their record to 6-5 on the season. Griffiths had 12 points, seven rebounds, an assist and a block while hitting 6-for-9 from the floor (67%) in a win at UMaine-Fort Kent. The 6'4" sophomore forward followed that up with 14 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a win over the Clippers of Machias. Griffiths racked up 26 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals across both wins.



Rookie of the Week 

Griffin Guerrette, UMaine-Presque Isle

(Freshman, G - Presque Isle, Maine)

Guerrette continued his solid play for the UMPI Owls as they picked up two wins this week. The freshman guard scored 14 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and tallied a block and two assists in a win at UMaine-Fort Kent on Wednesday night. Guerrette added nine points, four rebounds, five assists and a steal in a win over the UMaine-Machias Clippers Friday evening. He totaled 23 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists over the week while shooting 8-for-9 (88.9%) from the free throw line.






Player of the Week

Kenzie Worcester, Husson

(Senior, G - Washburn, Maine)

Dominating the hardwood on Wednesday evening, Worcester led a rally for the Eagles against non-conference opponent Endicott College with a whopping 26 points in the second half - a new NCAA era record for Husson. Worcester led all scorers with 33 points for the second-most netted in a single game in her career, and became the third member of the 1,500-point club at Husson. The senior guard also pulled down seven rebounds and a steal while handing out an assist in the game.


Rookie of the Week 

Alexandra Barry, Northern Vermont-Johnson

(Freshman, F - Hopewell Junction, NY)

Barry shot 50.0% from the field as the Badgers went 1-2 on the week. She scored a team best 15 points in win over Southern Vermont College on Thursday evening, grabbed four rebounds, and had two steals and two blocks in the game. Barry proved to be a versatile scoring threat, driving to the basket and stretching the defense with her ability to make jump shots. She tallied 28 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, three steals, and two assists over three games.
