MEN'S BASKETBALL 

Player of the Week

Justin Martin, Husson

(Senior, F - Winslow, Maine)

Helping the Eagles pick up a pair of NAC victories this weekend, Martin nearly averaged a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds per game. In the first tip-off, Martin netted 22 points off 81.8% shooting and completed the double-double with 10 rebounds. He also chipped in three assists, a steal and a block. Less than 24 hours later, Martin contributed 18 points, eight rebounds, a steal, and four blocks to another victory. All told, he shot an impressive 72.7% (16-22) from the field, including 7-of-9 (77.8%) three pointers.

 
   

Rookie of the Week 

Evan Arsenault, Thomas

(Freshman, G - Berlin, New Hampshire)

Arsenault led the Terriers to an 87-78 victory over non-conference opponent Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, scoring a team-high 17 points. The freshman shot 6-for-10 (60%) from the field, including a 5-for-8 mark (62.5%) from three-point range. Arsenault also chipped in four rebounds and handed out four assists.

 

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL 

Player of the Week

Kenzie Worcester, Husson

(Senior, G - Washburn, Maine)

Worcester and the Eagles lit up the court over the weekend to move to 4-0 in NAC competition. In the first game against UMPI on Friday, she scored 20 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. In the second game of the weekend series, Worcester played a supporting role with ten points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals over 27 minutes. Between the two NAC matches, she averaged 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and 2.5 steals per game.

 
   

Rookie of the Week 

Vanessa Duarte, Husson

(Freshman, G - Hawthorne, New York)

Netting a career-high 16 points on Friday night against UMPI, Duarte helped pave the way for the Eagles by draining 4-of-6 shots from the three-point arc and pulling down four rebounds. Facing the same team on back-to-back nights, Duarte shot 100% from the field, including 3-for-3 from three-point range to tally 12 points. She led all-scorers at the half with nine, as Husson held the Owls to seven points in the first 20 minutes of the game. Duarte averaged 14.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting an accurate 83.3% (10-12) from the field to help the Eagles move to 4-0 in NAC contests.
