MEN'S BASKETBALL
 

Player of the Week

Justin Thompson, Husson

(Sophomore, G - East Millinocket, Maine)

Thompson led the Eagles on the scoreboard with a game- and career-high 29 points on Friday night as Husson lost a Sport Center Top-10 play buzzer-beater to Thomas College. He also snagged eight boards and hit 10-of-14 chances from the charity stripe in the heartbreaker. The following day, Thompson once again led all scorers as he drained 24 points, including 4-for-4 free throws, and dispersed six assists to teammates to help Husson capture a crucial win on the road at UMaine-Farmington. With another nine points, three rebounds and three steals in a non-conference tilt at Bowdoin early in the week, the sophomore closed out the three-game week averaging 20.7 points (26.5 NAC), 5.3 rebounds (6.5 NAC), 2.7 assists (4.0 NAC), and 1.3 steals per game.

 
   

Rookie of the Week 

Griffin Guerrette, UMaine-Presque Isle

(Freshman, G - Presque Isle, Maine)

Guerrette was clutch for the Owls as they clinched a NAC playoff spot with a sweep of Northern Vermont University-Johnson. On Friday, Guerrette scored eight of his team-high 24 points in the final 5:48 of play to help the Owls fend off a late charge by the Badgers and come up with a 94-90 win. He also dispensed six assists, grabbed four rebounds, and had one steal. On Saturday, Guerrette again came up big down the stretch, scoring nine of his game-high 21 points in the final 5:30 to help complete the Owls second half comeback as they found themselves down 13 with 8:30 left in the game. Earlier in the week, Guerrette scored 21 points on 72.7% shooting in a loss to Maine Maritime. In all, Guerrette averaged 22.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for the three-game week.

 

 

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
 

Player of the Week

Kenzie Worcester, Husson

(Senior, G - Washburn, Maine)

Worcester led all Eagles against Bates on Tuesday night, scoring 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds for the second double-double of her senior campaign. After hitting a three against the Bobcats, she became the program's all-time leading scorer from 3-point range with 164 career buckets. Worcester dominated as the lone senior on senior night against Thomas, recording 14 of the first 19 points for the Eagles, and ending the night with a commanding 27 points on 71.4% shooting (10-14) from the field. She put up 18 points and snatched six steals and four rebounds against UMaine-Farmington, and by the end of the week, Worcester averaged 20.0 points (22.5 NAC), 7.0 rebounds (5.0 NAC), and 3.0 steals (4.5 NAC) per game.

 
   

Rookie of the Week 

Lauren Plissey, Maine Maritime

(Freshman, F - Hermon, Maine)

Plissey was a defensive force in the Mariners' 3-0 week, averaging nine rebounds, five points, 2.3 blocks per game, while shooting 50 percent from the floor. In the first NAC game of the week against UMaine-Presque Isle on Tuesday, the freshman tallied 10 rebounds and six points. Against UMaine-Farmington the forward pulled down nine boards and recorded four points and four blocks, while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor. In the team's third win of the week, the freshman tallied eight rebounds, six points, three blocks, two assists and a steal while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor.
