Player of the Week

Justin Martin, Husson

Selected to the All-Conference First Team on Thursday, Justin Martin led his team from the second-seed to the conference title over the weekend. In a semifinal matchup with #3 SUNY Canton on Friday, Martin drained twenty points and dished out two assists. He grabbed six rebounds, three steals, and also put up three blocks in the win (85-74). Facing a red-hot Thomas team that knocked number one-seed UMF out of the tournament the night before, Martin continued to lead his team with composure. He scored a game-high 26 points, nearly missing a double-double with nine rebounds. He put up four blocks, stole the ball once, and nailed 6-for-6 free throws as the Eagles pulled away from Thomas after a tie-game at the half. Martin was selected as the All-Tournament MVP for his performance over the weekend.

(Freshman, G - Orlando, Florida)

Goodson averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and two assists during the NAC Championship weekend. The freshman hit the game-winning shot with 1.4 seconds remaining to vault the fourth-seeded Terriers to an 86-85 win over top-seeded UMF in the semifinals. He totaled 18 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the win. In the NAC Final on Saturday, Goodson scored 13 points, along with five rebounds and four steals, as the Terriers finished as the NAC Runner-Up. Goodson was named to the All-Tournament Team for his performance.

Player of the Week

Kenzie Worcester, Husson

(Senior, G - Washburn, Maine)

Worcester was selected as the NAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year on Thursday, and then led her team to their fourth consecutive NAC Championship where she earned her fourth consecutive All-Tournament MVP Honors. In a semifinal game on Friday, the Eagles faced off with NVU-Lyndon, a team featuring the Defensive Player and Rookie of the Year. Worcester put up 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and handed out five assists in the dominant win (77-39). Then in the championship game on Saturday, another defensive juggernaut, Worcester scored a game-high 21 points, with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Worcester made 8-out-of-10 free throws in the 58-51 championship victory. Prior to winning four straight with head coach Kissy Walker and the Eagles, Worcester won four Maine state championships at Washburn high school.

Rookie of the Week

Vanessa Duarte, Husson

(Freshman, G - Hawthorne, New York)

Duarte earns her third Rookie of the Week honors coming out of a Conference Championship-winning weekend. Duarte scored ten points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor, including 2-of-3 three-pointers, in a NAC semifinal game on Friday. She also tallied eight rebounds, three assists, and one steal in the win. In the championship game on Saturday, Duarte put Husson ahead for the first time in the game by draining a three, just after teammate Kenzie Worcester tied the game with a trey of her own, deep into the second quarter. Duarte lit up from there, hitting two more three-pointers on her way to 14 points in 16 minutes off the bench.
