  • McNamee Named NAC Man of the Year

    The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) is pleased to announce that Matt McNamee of Castleton has been selected as the winner of its annual Man of the Year award in a vote of the league's athletic directors. A four-year member of the Spartan baseball team McNamee will be presented the award at a to-be-determined date during the 2014-15 academic year.

    Allen White was a catalyst for Castleton's 8-0 week, scoring 10 runs, driving in five, and stealing seven bases without getting caught to earn Player of the Week honors. Joe Sullivan factored into all three UMF wins, earning Pitcher of the Week honors while posting a 0.00 ERA and a .097 opponent batting average. Nathan Frongillo batted .467 for Colby-Sawyer and was named Rookie of the Week.

    J.T. Whitten batted .478 across six games to lead Husson to a 4-2 mark and earn Player of the Week honors. Thomas College's Tim Locke dazzled New England College hitters, striking out nine in a complete-game shut out of the Pilgrims and was named Pitcher of the Week. Soren Pelz-walsh batted .333 for Castleton and earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

    Macyn Clifford played a huge role in Castleton's 4-2 week, putting up a slash line of .450/.522/.800 including four doubles and a home run to earn Player of the Week honors. Sam Matthews pitched in three Lyndon wins, including a complete-game shutout of UMaine-Farmington and was named Pitcher of the Week. Trevor Hisler collected seven hits in ten at-bats for UMF and earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

    Anree Benitez capped an impressive week with a 5-for-5 day at the dish, including a grand slam for Thomas to earn Player of the Week honors. Husson's Pat McEwen twirled a complete-game four-hitter and was named Pitcher of the Week, while Castleton's Luke Salerno was impressive in his debut, allowing just one earned run in his first collegiate win to earn Rookie of the Week accolades.

    Castleton's three-game sweep of Husson produced Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors for Joe Borowski and Samuel Spencer respectively. Borowski went 4-for-9 with a home run and four RBI to lead the Spartan offense, while Spencer was dominant in a one-hitter with five strikeouts on the mound. Ethan Henderson got his career started on the right foot, batting .346 over nine games for Thomas to earn Rookie of the Week accolades.

Joe Sullivan befuddled Colby-Sawyer from the mound, leading UMaine-Farmington to a 4-0 win with nine strikeouts over seven innings to earn Pitcher of the Week accolades. Colby-Sawyer's Nathan Frongillo reaps the league's first Rookie of the Week award after batting .389 with his first collegiate home run.
  • Husson Picked to Defend NAC Baseball Title

    Husson University has been picked to defend its 2013 conference championship in a preseason poll of the North Atlantic Conference baseball coaches. Husson finished with 44 points and two first-place votes, just one point ahead of Castleton State College, which received three first-place votes and a total of 43 points. Colby-Sawyer finished third with 39 points and two first-place votes.
