Player of the Week

Tucker Root, Northern Vermont-Lyndon
(Junior, IF - Middlefield, Connecticut)

Root swung a hot bat for the Hornets over five games this week. In a four-game series with UMaine-Farmington, he hit .571 with eight hits, four doubles, and seven RBI while also scoring five runs. Root hit a two-run single to give the Hornets the lead in Friday's 5-3 win, and capped the weekend by going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored in the Hornets' 11-4 win over the Beavers on Saturday. Root's slugging percentage was .857 as the Hornets took three-out-of-four NAC wins.

   
 

Pitcher of the Week

Cody Cousins, Thomas
(Junior, P- Wells, Maine)

Cousins had one start and two appearances, with a 1-0 record for the Terriers this week. He pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the Terriers 2-1 victory over Husson on Thursday, allowing only one hit. In a start against UMaine-Presque Isle on Sunday, Cousins secured a six-inning shutout with eight strikeouts while scattering six hits. Cousins earned run average was 0.0 over seven innings of work.

   
 

Rookie of the Week

Ryan Kappelmann, Thomas
(Freshman, IF/P- Auburn, Maine)

Kappelmann hit .316 (6-for-19) in five starts for Thomas as the Terriers racked up a 5-1 record in conference play last week. The freshman belted two triples and drove in four runs from the cleanup spot, while scoring two runs himself. He had a clean bill in his time at first base with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
