Husson Earns Top Seed in 2019 NAC Baseball Tournament

Husson has earned the top seed and hosting rights for the 2019 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Baseball Tournament to be held this weekend. The Eagles enter the tournament with a 23-14 overall record, and a 12-4 record in the NAC. Northern Vermont-Lyndon (20-19 overall) played their way to an 11-5 conference record and the No. 2 seed. Thomas College (12-22, 10-6) is the third-seed, and UMaine-Farmington (12-21, 7-9) completes the tournament field.

The four-team double elimination tournament will begin with three games on Friday, May 3. Top-seeded Husson will host UMaine-Farmington in Game 1, NVU-Lyndon will take on Thomas College in game 2. Game 3 will see the losers of Game 1 and Game 2 fight to remain in the tournament.

Tournament action will continue throughout the weekend, as two games are slated for Saturday, May 4, culminating with the final day of the tournament scheduled for Sunday, May 5. All start times are still to be determined, and dates and times are subject to change.

Earlier this year, the NAC and the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced a two-year agreement to align their respective baseball championships, beginning this 2019 season. The NAC tournament champion will advance to the NAC Championship against the winner of the CUNYAC tournament. The winner of the best-of three-series will earn automatic qualification into the upcoming 2019 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.

The two league champions will meet on the second weekend of May in a best-of-three series. The format includes a single game tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 9 and a maximum of two games tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 10. A rain date is set for that Sunday, May 11, with the entire schedule subject to change.
