NAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lorri Hiltz, Husson University
(So., M - Norridgewock, ME)
Lorri Hiltz was named the 2009 NAC Tournament MVP. Hiltz provided an assist in Husson's championship victory over U. Maine Farmington. Her solid and consistent midfield presence anchored the Eagles offensively and defensively as they claimed ther NAC title.

 

 

 

NAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ashley Wentworth, Me.-Farmington
(SR, M - North Berwick, ME)
Wentworth scored a pair of goals in a 1-1 week for the Beavers. The senior tallied the first goal in Farmington's 2-1 penalty-stroke loss to Castleton and helped Farmington advance to the NAC semifinals with a goal in a 3-0 win over Thomas.

 

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kristen Capen, Husson University
(FY, GK - Leeds, ME)
Kristen Capen anchored the Eagles with goalkeeping saves in the Eagles NAC first round win against Lasell College and a win against Bates. Against Lasell, Capen tallied 5 saves off 13 shots. The first-year student shut down Lasell's best scoring opportunity late in the second half by coming off her line and smothering a Lasers break-away. Against Bates, Capen recorded 9 saves on 20 shots and helped her team earn a tight 2-1 victory.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Emily Sypher, Simmons
(Sr, F - Orono, Maine)
Emily Sypher tallied 11 points on the week, scoring 4 goals and adding 3 assists for the Sharks. In addition to four points in a non-conference game Tuesday, she scored the game-tying goal to send it into overtime against St. Joe's Saturday and added 2 goals and an assist against Husson on Sunday.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kealy Chipman, Castleton
(Fr., Forward - Bellows Falls, VT)
Chipman led Castleton to a 2-0 week, scoring three goals and adding one assist in wins over Nichols and Thomas. In a mid-week 4-2 win over Nichols, Chipman scored once, and followed it up with a two-goal, one assist performance in Sunday's NAC win over Thomas. Chipman has scored a team-high nine goals on the season.

 

NAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tia Pratt, Lasell College
(Jr., MF - S. Paris, ME)
Pratt scored three goals this week, including the game winning goals in two 1-0 victories over Simmons College and Anna Maria College. Pratt scored the sole goal against Simmons in the first half. Pratt then followed that up with a late tally against Anna Maria, scoring in the final 7 minutes of a scoreless contest for the Lasers' win.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Marianna Brown, Simmons
(Fr, F - Newton, N.H.)
Marianna scored two goals in a conference win over Rivier for the Sharks. Her improvement in the offensive circle is showing and she has become a strong part of the Sharks' offense.

Julia Ostrowski, Saint Joseph's College
(Senior, Forward - Albany, N.Y.)
Ostrowski scored the game tying goal in a 2-1 conference win over Farmington on Monday and then netted a hat trick in a 7-1 victory over Rivier College on Saturday.

Katelyn Tighe, Simmons

Rookie Katelyn Tighe scored 3 goals for Simmons this week. Tighe has been working hard to climb back from illness and her ability to find the back of the cage during her freshman year is growing.

Jen Szkolt, Simmons
(Sr, GK - Bondsville, Mass.)
Simmons goalkeeper Jen Szkolt had 12 saves in a 3-2 loss to Western New England College this week, continually denying the inital shots and helping the Sharks to a close miss by fortifying the Simmons defense.

Concetta Nicoloro, Lasell
(Fr., F - Arlington, Mass.)
Nicoloro scored two goals in a 4-1 win over the Raiders of Rivier College on Saturday. Nicoloro's second goal was the game-winner in the conference matchup.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Emma Deans, Me.-Farmington
(JR, M - Gorham, ME)
Deans tallied three goals, including a pair of game-winners, to lead the Beavers to a 3-1 week (2-0 in the NAC). Deans scored in overtime to lift Farmington past Thomas 2-1 in a non-conference tilt Tuesday and tied and then won the game with two second-half goals in a 3-2 win over Simmons Sunday.

Elizabeth Andersen, Saint Joseph's College (Me.)
(Freshman, Midfielder - Cumberland, Maine)
Andersen netted her first collegiate goal in dramatic fashion as the first-year player notched the game-winning tally in double-overtime against Husson University on Saturday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Courtney Allen, Husson University
(Jr., F - Gardiner, ME)
The Eagles were 1-1 this week recording a 6-0 non conference win over Rivier College and a 1-2 loss against Colby College . Courtney Allen (Jr., Gardiner, ME) paced the eagles with four goals on the week with 3 goals coming in a first half hat trick against Rivier College. She contributed Husson's only goal against Colby.

Lindsay Rettenmeier, Rivier College
(Freshman, Forward - Ashford, CT)
In a fantastic game against Regis College, Lindsay scored a hat trick as she netted 3 goals for the Raiders in their first win of the season. Lindsay's speed has proven to be her best asset as she constantly went past defenders to get to the goal.

Nowell scored two goals in a 3-0 win over FDU-Florham on Saturday, September 12th earning NAC Field Hockey Player of the Week honors.

(Freshman, Forward - Thornton, NH)
Kristen scored the first field hockey goal of both the season and her career against Daniel Webster College. She played all 70 minutes of the game in a close 2-1 defeat.
