PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Helen Berry, Husson
(Sr, D - Belfast, Maine)
Husson senior defender Helen Berry was chosen as the NAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after her Eagles shutout Farmington 5-0 in the semifinals then bested top seed St. Joseph's College of Maine 2-1 to claim the NAC Field Hockey Championship.

Hattie Laliberte, Me.-Farmington
(SR, F - Guilford, Maine)
Laliberte collected two goals and two assists as the Beavers knocked off Simmons 6-1 in the NAC first round.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Rachel Preusser, Castleton
(Freshman, Forward - Craryville, N.Y.)
Preusser guided Castleton to a 3-1 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Wednesday scoring a pair of goals including the eventual game-winner. The freshman was also instrumental in the Spartans 8-0 win over Thomas College in the NAC Quarterfinal on Saturday putting all three of her shots on goal while her overall play contributed greatly towards the playoff victory.

Meg Denby, Thomas College
(Sr., GK - Copiague, NY)
Denby had a great week in the goal for the Terriers talling 34 saves in two conference games. Denby stopped 24 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to third place Farmington on Wednesday and followed it up by stopping 10 shots on senior day against first place St. Joseph's in a 3-2 defeat.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sabrina Vaillancourt, Husson Unviersity
(FY, Forward - Newport, ME)
Sabrina Vaillancourt scored the game winning goal in overtime against NAC rival, the University of Maine at Farmington. Vaillancourt's OT score gave the Eagles the 1-0 victory, sealing the Eagles' second place NAC finish.

Co-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Emma Deans, Me.-Farmington
(SR, M - Gorham, Maine)
Deans led the Beavers to a 2-1 week with a goal and six assists. The senior had a goal and two assists in a 7-0 NAC win at Rivier and assisted on two goals in a 3-2 NAC overtime victory at Castleton.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Courtney Rague, Saint Joseph's College
(Senior, Forward - Old Orchard Beach, Maine)
Rague tallied nine points - four goals and an assist - and two game-winners in a 3-0 week for the Monks. The senior forward netted a goal and an assist against Salve Regina on Monday, a game-clincher against Salem State on Wednesday and two goals against Simmons on Sunday.

 

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sabrina Vaillancourt, Husson University
(Fy., Forward - Newport, ME)
In her only contest of the week, Sabrina Vaillancourt powered the Eagles to a conference win over Lasell by contributing two goals. Vaillancourt's first goal came when she got the ball at the top of the circle and tucked away the goal. Vaillancourt collected her second goal of the day in the second half when she hammered a loose ball into the net.

Courtney Rague, Saint Joseph's College
(Senior, Forward - Old Orchard Beach, Maine)
Rague played a hand in all three of the Monks' goals in a 3-2 victory over University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday. The senior scored the first two goals for St. Joe's before assisting on the eventual game-winner early in the second half against the Beavers.

CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sara Lane, Me.-Farmington
(JR, M - Hiram, Maine)
Lane led the Beavers in a 3-0 week, including a pair of NAC wins, with four goals. The junior scored twice as Farmington rallied to down Bates 4-2 and collected two goals in a 3-2 overtime win at Lasell.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meaghan Johnson, Saint Joseph's College
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Portland, Maine/Cheverus)
In the Monk's only game of the week, Johnson made a career-high 20 saves in a 3-2 victory over Castleton State on Sunday, October 3rd keeping Saint Joseph's undefeated in conference play.

 

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Rachel Preusser, Castleton State College
(Freshman, Forward - Craryville, N.Y.)
Preusser provided most of the offense for Castleton in a 1-2 week overall netting five of the Spartans eight goals. In a 4-2 win over Union on Tuesday, Preusser opened the scoring just 3:03 into the game and added another marker early in the second half. Against Husson in a 4-2 loss, Preusser notched both goals for Castleton and found the back of the cage once in a 3-2 loss to St. Joseph's (Me.) on Sunday.

Laliberte scored a goal and assisted on two others in a 2-0 week for the Beavers. The senior scored a goal in Farmington's 2-1 NAC victory at Thomas and assisted on a pair of Elise Theriault goals in a 3-2 double-overtime win vs. Endicott.

(Fr, F - Rockport, Maine)
This week Doucette had 2 assists and the game winning goal at Lasell. With her speed and strong stick work, she has helped Simmons to start conference play with a 1-0 NAC record.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Meaghan Johnson, Saint Joseph's College
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Portland, Maine/Cheverus)
Johnson made 29 saves and recorded a .853 save percentage in a 1-2 week for the Monks. She recorded 13 stops in a 2-1 win over UNE on September 14th and 11 in a 2-0 loss to Kean University on September 19th.

Hillary Joseph, Lasell
(Fr., F - Cranford, NJ)
Rookie forward Hillary Joseph scored two goals, including the game-winner, against Daniel Webster College on Saturday. Joseph's goals came back-to-back and contributed greatly to the Lasers' second win.

(FR, F - Newry, Maine)
Freshman forward TJ Cowin had 3 goals and 2 assists in Simmons' win over Bay Path this week, boosting the Sharks to a 1-0 week, and 2-2 overall record.

Flore was pivotal to Castleton's 2-0 week overall notching four goals and one assist including the game-winning tally against Plymouth St. on 9/8 with 30 seconds remaining on a penalty corner.

Preusser was instrumental in Castleton's 5-4 victory over Plymouth St. on 9/8 scoring two goals on five shots. Preusser's first marker tied the game at 1-1 in the first half and her second goal at 14:23 helped the Spartans take a 2-1 lead in the half.

Kayla Nowell, Saint Joseph's College (Me.)
(Senior, Forward - Bridgton, Maine)
Nowell netted the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Framingham State 9/2. With the tally, the senior forward tied the SJC program record for career game-clinching goals (10).

Blake Wardwell, Castleton
(Fr., Forward - Woodstock, Vt.)
Wardwell scored two goals on just two shots in her second collegiate game, helping push Castleton to a 7-4 win over University of New England Saturday night. The freshman forward gave Castleton a 3-0 lead early in the first half, and capped the Spartan scoring with her second of the contest to put the game away as UNE was attempting a comeback.
