Anderson Selected to 2018 NABC & D3hoops.com Division III All-Northeast Second Team
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2018 NABC Coaches' Division III All-District teams, while D3hoops.com has released its 17th annual D3hoops.com Men's All-Region Teams. The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) saw one student-athlete honored by both organizations, as Husson senior guard Raheem Anderson (Miramar, Fla.) was selected to the Northeast NABC and D3hoops.com second teams.
Anderson is the third Eagle player in program history to be selected to the NABC team, while earning his second and back-to-back NABC All-District nods. He is also the third Eagle player in program history to be selected to the D3hoops.com team and the second to be selected to the second team
The four-time All-Conference selection lead the team in points (548), scoring average (21.1), field goals made (196), field goal attempts (442), free throw percentage (.899), 3-point field goals attempts (148), free throws made (107), free throw attempts (119), assists (74), assists per game (2.8), steals (43), steals per game (1.7) and ranked second in rebounds (136) and rebounds per game (5.2) in 2018. The guard finished the season leading the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in points, points per game and free throw percentage to en-route to earning back-to-back conference Player of the Year honors, becoming the first player to achieve this honor since Ray Alley in 1993 and 1994, and the third overall player to ever do this program history. Anderson is also just the fourth player in program history to be name player of the year twice in their HU Careers.
In 117 career games played, Anderson tallied 2,429 points, 344 assists, 500 rebounds, 166 steals, and 19 blocks, while shooting 37.6 percent (835-for-1844) from the floor, 33.1 percent (107-for-119) from behind the arc and 88.6 percent (480-for-542) from the free throw line. He averaged 20.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per game in his career.
He will finish his career as the program's all-time career leader in free throws made and free throw percentage, while being ranked among the program's career leaders in 3-point field goals made (2nd), 3-point field goals attempted (2nd), free throws attempted (2nd), field goals made (3rd), field goals attempted (3rd), points (3rd), scoring average (6th), assists (11th), steals (14th), steals average (tied for 19th), games played (12th) and assists average (20th).
Anderson earned D3Hoops.com All-American Honorable Mention, First Team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), D3Hoops.com Second Team All-Northeast, National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-Northeast honors and was chosen as ECAC New England Player of the Year in 2017, while being selected to the NAC All-Tournament Team in 2016 and 2017. He was named the NAC Tournament MVP in 2017.
He became the 31st Eagle captain to record 1,000 career points on February 6, 2016 in a 101-95 loss to Johnson and the 3rd captain to surpass the 2,000-career point mark on December 8, 2017 in a 69-52 win over Green Mountain.
Anderson is the 16th player in program history to score 1,000 or more points, grab 500 or more rebounds, record 150 or more assists and 150 or more steals in their career at Husson.
