Player of the Week

Justin Thompson, Husson

(Sophomore, G - East Millinocket, Maine)

Thompson led the Eagles on the scoreboard with a game- and career-high 29 points on Friday night as Husson lost a Sport Center Top-10 play buzzer-beater to Thomas College. He also snagged eight boards and hit 10-of-14 chances from the charity stripe in the heartbreaker. The following day, Thompson once again led all scorers as he drained 24 points, including 4-for-4 free throws, and dispersed six assists to teammates to help Husson capture a crucial win on the road at UMaine-Farmington. With another nine points, three rebounds and three steals in a non-conference tilt at Bowdoin early in the week, the sophomore closed out the three-game week averaging 20.7 points (26.5 NAC), 5.3 rebounds (6.5 NAC), 2.7 assists (4.0 NAC), and 1.3 steals per game.

Rookie of the Week

Griffin Guerrette, UMaine-Presque Isle

(Freshman, G - Presque Isle, Maine)

Guerrette was clutch for the Owls as they clinched a NAC playoff spot with a sweep of Northern Vermont University-Johnson. On Friday, Guerrette scored eight of his team-high 24 points in the final 5:48 of play to help the Owls fend off a late charge by the Badgers and come up with a 94-90 win. He also dispensed six assists, grabbed four rebounds, and had one steal. On Saturday, Guerrette again came up big down the stretch, scoring nine of his game-high 21 points in the final 5:30 to help complete the Owls second half comeback as they found themselves down 13 with 8:30 left in the game. Earlier in the week, Guerrette scored 21 points on 72.7% shooting in a loss to Maine Maritime. In all, Guerrette averaged 22.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for the three-game week.
