Husson's E. Dugas Earns Division III PING All-American Honorable Mention
Husson freshman Eric Dugas (Pittsfield, Maine) has been named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III PING All-American, the association announced on Wednesday. Dugas, named to the Honorable Mention team, becomes the third-consecutive and first freshman in Eagle program history to be selected to the All-American team by the GCAA.
Dugas had an impressive freshman campaign for the Eagles. At the 2017 NAC Championship, he recorded a 77 on Day 1 and a 75 on Day 2 for a two-day total of 152, which earned him third place, only five-strokes back from the overall medalist. Prior to the conference championship, the rookie recorded four top-eight performances. At the Maine Collegiate Championship, he shot a 151 (77-74), tying for seventh in the 50-golfer event. Dugas then shot a 148 (76-72) at the Husson Invitational to tie for eighth with three other golfers. At the Farmingdale State College Invitational, he shot a 151 (79-72) to claim eighth place out of 44 participants. The Monday prior to the NAC Championship at the rain shortened USM Fall Classic, the freshman carded a 72 (+1) for a fourth-place finish. Dugas was selected NAC Rookie of the Week for five-consecutive times this past season.
Dugas' (+3, 291) finish of 12th place at the national event ties the highest individual finish in program history and the highest since Husson joined the NCAA in the fall of 2003, while recording the lowest four-day tournament score in program history.
