Nicholas Ojala, Castleton University
Sophomore - Proctor, Vermont
Ojala had a stellar two-week stretch, finishing T-22 in a loaded 118-man field at the Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College before topping all players for individual medalist honors at the Castleton Invitational. Ojala posted rounds of 74 and 76 at the Duke Nelson to shoot 150 (+8) over 36 holes. He ranked seventh in the large field in par-4 scoring, going +2 for a 4.09 average. He followed that up by leading his team to victory at home, as he carded an opening-round 79 (+9) before firing a final-round 72 (+2) on Sunday. Ojala led all player at the Castleton Invitational in par-4 scoring (+6, 4.25 average) while making a match-best 21 pars.
Rookie of the Week
Chris Kauppila, Husson
First-year - Newburgh, Maine
Kauppila led the Eagles to a 15th place finish in a competitive 25-team field at the Williams College Fall Invitational last weekend. He shot a 73 (+2) on the first day and finished with a 76 (+5) on the second day of play. The rookie tied for 17th out of 127 golfers overall, with a combined scorecard of 149.
