Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors (March 3, 2019)

 

 

 

Player of the Week

Malik Talbert, SUNY Delhi
(Senior, M - Valley Stream, New York)

Talbert leads the conference with eight points, three assists, and is tied at the top with five goals, after the first week of games. The senior midfielder registered four goals in the Broncos' season debut against Randolph on Wednesday. Against Bridgewater (Va.) over the weekend, Talbert notched another goal, handed out three assists, and scooped up two ground balls. More than seventy-six percent of Talbert's shots on goal found the back of the net this week.

   

Defensive Player of the Week

Brandon Schmidt, SUNY Canton
(Sophomore, D - Ballston Spa, New York)

Schmidt had a big week for the Roos, totaling 15 ground balls and eight caused turnovers in a pair of contests. First, he registered game-highs of eight ground balls and four caused turnovers in a road loss at Clarkson. In the home-opener on Saturday, Schmidt finished with a game-high four caused turnovers and added seven ground balls in an overtime loss to Bard.

   

Rookie of the Week

Travis Anderson, SUNY Delhi
(Freshman, G - Putnam Valley, New York)

Anderson recorded 25 saves in the first two games of his collegiate career. The freshman saved 11 shots (55% save percentage) in the season opener against Randolph. Later in the week, he stopped 16 shots between the pipes in a loss against Bridgewater (Va.). Anderson stopped 50 percent of the shots he faced this week.
