Player of the Week

Robert Buonanno, Northern Vermont-Johnson

(Jr., F - Wolcott Vt.)

Buonanno scored game-winning goals for the Badgers in both games to secure a 2-0 record for the week. On Tuesday against Southern Vermont, Buonanno scored at the beginning of each half accounting for both goals in a 2-0 victory. On Saturday, Buonanno provided heroics in a dramatic conference victory over UMaine-Farmington that saw the Badgers clinch their way into the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Buonanno scored the equalizer in the 89th minute of play to knot the game at 3-3, and then scored the game winner a little over 2 minutes into overtime.

   

Defensive Player of the Week

Jonathan Dutka, Thomas (ME)

(Sr., GK - Durham, N.H.)

Dutka allowed just one goal in two games this week to lead the Terriers against Bates and Husson. In Wednesdays 1-0 loss to Bates, the senior made seven saves to keep the Terriers in contention. He followed that performance with a six save shutout as Thomas tied Husson 0-0

 

   

Rookie of the Week 

Tristan Salgado, Northern Vermont-Johnson

(Fr, F - Essex,Vt.)

Salgado scored a key goal for the Badgers in an exciting comeback against conference foe UMaine-Farmington. Down 3-1 with three minutes to play,  Salgado pushed in a key goal, his 9th of the season. The forward line kept up the pressure and the Badgers eventually won in overtime.
