2018 NAC Softball Championship Seedings Released: Husson to Host

Husson has earned the top seed and hosting rights for the 2018 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Softball Championship Tournament, which begins with opening-round games on Friday, May 4.

The Eagles (17-12 overall) captured the top seed in the conference tournament after posting a 6-2 record in NAC play, while New England College (9-3 NAC, 15-21 overall) earned the No. 2 seed, Castleton took third (7-3, 11-15) and Thomas claimed fourth (8-4, 19-15).

Seeds for the NAC Tournament are based on winning percentage in conference play. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used for teams with similar winning percentages.

The four-team double elimination tournament will begin with four games on Friday, May 4. Husson will host Thomas at 10:00 a.m. in Game 1, while New England College will take on Castleton at 12:00 p.m. in Game 2. The losers of Game 1 and Game 2 will play in Game 3 at 2:00 p.m. with the loser exiting the tournament. Game 4 will be played between the winners of Game 1 and Game 2 at 4:00 p.m.

Tournament action will continue onto Saturday, as the winner of Game 3 will take on the loser of Game 4 at 12:00 p.m. Then at 2:00 p.m. the winners of Game 4 and Game 5 will square off. If the undefeated team (winner of Game 4) wins, they earn the championship title, but if they are beaten, the tournament will continue onto Sunday with Game 7 at 1:00 p.m.

The NAC tournament champion will earn an automatic bid into the upcoming 2018 NCAA Division III Softball Championship.

Game 2: No. 3 Castleton (7-3, 11-15) vs. No. 2 New England College (9-3, 15-21) - 12:00 p.m.
Game 3: Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 2 - 2:00 p.m.
Game 4: Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2 - 4:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 5
Game 5: Winner of Game 3 vs. Loser of Game 4 - 12:00 p.m.
Game 6: Winner of Game 4 vs. Winner of Game 5 - 2:00 p.m.

Sunday, May 6
Game 7: If necessary - 1:00 p.m.
