INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The 2019 NCAA Division III softball championship bracket was announced today in a selection show on NCAA.com.
Husson (24-9) earned the automatic bid for the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) with their second-consecutive conference championship in an 8-0, five-inning win over top-seeded Thomas College yesterday. The Eagles will play MIT (27-10-1) in the first round of regionals this weekend in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
MIT will also host Rowan (30-12) and Eastern Nazarene (28-13) in the double-elimination format, with the winner advancing to the super regionals.
All regionals will be held May 10-12. The teams advancing from each regional will compete in the super regional round May 17 and 18. The finals, hosted by Texas-Tyler, will be held May 23-28 at Suddenlink Field in Tyler, Texas. All rounds will use a double-elimination format.
The championship bracket consists of 62 teams across 16 regional sites. Forty-two conferences received an automatic qualification (Pool A). Two institutions were selected from Pool B, which includes independent institutions and institutions from conferences that do not meet the automatic qualification criteria. The 18 remaining teams were selected on an at-large basis from automatic qualifying conferences and the remaining institutions in Pool B.
