NAC Softball Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nicky Sargent, Husson University
(SO, P - Sullivan, ME)
Nicky Sargent was named Most Valuable Player in this weekend's NAC Softball Championship. Sargent contributed on the mound and at the plate. She went 4-10 at the plate including 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, and 3 runs. Sargent's two run homerun in the top of the 7th broke a 4-4 tie against Maine Farmington, propelling Husson to the critical 6-4 win. On the mound, Sargent hurled 12.1 innings. She factored in all three games earning two wins and coming on to pitch the final inning of the 6-4 victory over U. Maine Farmington for the save. She only allowed 3 earned runs while striking out 6 and walking only 2.

NAC Softball Weekly Honors

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Jordan Kennedy, Thomas College
(Fr, Pitcher - Detroit, Me.)
Kennedy won three games last week allowing just 2 earned runs in 24 innings for a .58 ERA while posting 37 strikeouts. The freshman pitcher won two 1-0 contests; a 7 innings victory over UMF in which she allowed 6hits, 2walks while striking out 13, and an eight inning victory over Green Mountain giving up 3 hits with 3 walks with 9 strikeouts.

 

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mckell Barnes, Me.-Farmington
(SO, C/1B - Durham, ME)
Barnes batted .558 (24-43) with 12 runs scored, three doubles, five home runs and 19 RBI in an 8-4 week for the Beavers. Maintaining a .977 slugging percentage during the stretch, the sophomore established this week and continued to build on a program single season home run record (9) and has tied the career mark at 14.

 

 

 


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Brianna Webster , Husson University
(Fy, OF - Belfast, ME)
The Eagles were 7-2 this week and they completed at perfect 14-0 record in NAC play. Webster helped pace the Eagles hitting .393 (11-28) scoring 7 runs and driving in 10 RBIs. She had 4 2B, 1 3B, and 2 stolen bases on the week. Husson earned the #1 seed and will host the NAC Championship.

NAC Softball Weekly Honors

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Caitlyn LeBorgne, Husson University
(SO, P - Scarborough, ME)
The Eagles were 6-0 this week including 4-0 in NAC Play. LeBorgne was 2-0, pitching 10 inning without allowing a run. She struckout 13 and only allowed 3 hits while not given up a walk. LeBorgne also helped out at the plate going 4-10 (.400) with a 2B, 3B, and HR. She scored 4 runs and drove in 4 RBIs. Husson has now won 12 straight.

 

 

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cassie Berry, Husson University
(JR, INF - Newcastle, ME)
The Eagles were 6-0 this week including 4-0 in NAC play. Berry paced the Eagles going 10-19 (.526)with 2 2B and 2 HRs. She scored 8 runs, drove in 7 RBIs, and had 4 stolen bases. Husson has now won 12 straight.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Samantha Morency, Me.-Farmington
(FR, SS - Lewiston, ME)
Morency batted .500 (5-10) with two doubles and a pair of RBI in a loss to Colby and a doubleheader sweep of Johnson State. The freshman also played error-free defense in the three games.

NAC Softball Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hilary Bemis, Castleton
(Jr., 3B/P - Crown Point, NY)
Castleton won three of four NAC games this weekend, and were spurred by Bemis at the plate and in the pitching circle. The junior posted a .643 batting average, going 9-for-14 with an otherworldly 1.500 slugging percentage. Bemis smacked four homeruns, including two in one inning versus Johnson State. She drove in 13 runs and scored six to lead the offense. Bemis also recorded a pair of wins as a pitcher, posting a five-inning no-hitter versus Lyndon State on Saturday. The junior right hander struck out 13 and allowed just three hits in her 10 innings of work.

 

 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Nicole Sargent , Husson University
(SO, P - Sullivan, ME)
The Eagles were 6-0 this week featuring two NAC sweeps over Thomas and U. Maine Farmington. Sargent was 2-0 this week pitching 12 innings allowing only 1 earned run and striking out 8. Sargent also got it done at the plate with a walk off home run in the 8-7 win over Thomas College.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Brittany Lumsden, Johnson State College
(Fr., C/CF - Hardwick, Vt.)
Brittany Lumsden hit .462 (6-for-13) in a 2-2 week for Johnson State. Lumsden scored four times and added an RBI and stealing three bases. Lumsden's week was highlighted by a 4-for-4, three runs scored performance in a 6-5 loss to Green Mountain.

NAC Softball Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Julie Gervais, Johnson State College
(Jr., P/C/2B - Enosburg Falls, Vt.)
Julie Gervais was a standout at the plate for Johnson State who went 3-0 overall for the week. Gervais went 8-for-11 (.727) in the three games scoring eight runs, driving in three runs, and stealing five bases. Gervais delivered hits in her first seven at-bats on the week.

 

 

 

 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Allie Cunningham, Johnson State College
(Sr., P - Manchester, N.H.)
Allie Cunningham went 2-0 for JSC on the week. Cunningham pitched 10 total innings on the week without allowing an earned run and striking out 13. Cunningham pitched all five innings a 12-4 win over Southern Maine CC on Friday and then pitched five relief innings on Saturday shutting down Central Maine CC and helping Johnson to a come-from-behind 10-7 win.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Morgan Rogerson, Johnson State College
(Fr., SS - Hardwick, Vt.)
Morgan Rogerson spurred JSC to a 3-0 week by batting .417 (5-12), driving in three runs, and scoring twice. Rogerson had two games of 2-for-4, an RBI, and a run.

Jablonski was 5-11 from the plate with two runs scored, 2 RBI and a double.

Brittany Holden, Green Mountain College
(Senior, Pitcher - Schenectady, NY)
Holden won her first two outings against Becker College allowing just four hits and one earned run in two wins while posting 9 strike outs.

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hannah Seamans, Maine Maritime
(Junior, First Base - Athens, ME)
The junior first baseman continued her hot start at the plate for the Lady Mariners. In her two games this week Seaman's went 5 for 8 with 1 run and 2 rbi's. She also made two outstanding defensive plays at first base.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kayla Higgins, Maine Maritime
(Freshman, Catcher - Sullivan, ME)
Higgins continued to rake at the plate for MMA. The freshman catcher went 4 for 6 from the plate with 5 runs and an rbi.

Nicole Poland, Maine Maritime Academy
(Junior, Outfield - Damariscotta, ME)
Nicole had an outstanding offensive start to her 2009 season going 6 for 9 at the plate with 2 runs and 4 rbi's. The junior outfielder had a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .700 on base percentage in her three games this week. Of her 6 hits she has 4 singles a double and a triple.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kayla Higgins, Maine Maritime Academy
(Freshman, Catcher - Sullivan, ME)
Higgins got her career off on the right foot hitting .400 with 3 runs and an rbi in her first 3 games. The freshman catcher had a .500 slugging percentage and an .455 on base percentage. Higgins did a great job behind the dish for MMA collecting 18 putouts and 4 assists.
