NAC Women's Basketball All-Conference Announced

Colby-Sawyer senior Taylor DeSanty has been selected the 2012-13 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Year in a vote of the league's coaches marking the second-straight season she has garnered the honor. The three-time Player of the Week honoree led the league in scoring, averaging 19.3 points per game in conference play, while ranking among the top-five in field goals (136) and three-pointers made (35).

DeSanty's backcourt mate Cailin Bullett was also selected to the first team and is joined by Castleton's Alyssa Leonard and Meghan O'Sullivan as well as University of Maine at Farmington senior Kenni Norton.

A member of the second team in 2012, Bullett was one of the most consistent players in the league this season. The senior point guard led the conference in assists (118) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1) while ranking among the top-five in minutes per game (32.5), field goal percentage (45.7) and free throw percentage (84.2).

Leonard makes her first appearance on the first team after a Rookie of the Year award in 2011 and a second-team mention in 2012. Playing just 21.4 minutes per game on the balanced Spartan squad, Leonard averaged 10.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Leonard was tenth in total field goals made (72) while shooting 46.8 percent from the field, good enough for third in the conference.

O'Sullivan makes her first appearance on the all-conference list, capping a season in which she finished seventh in field goal percentage (43.0) and tenth in blocked shots (12), anchoring the middle of the Spartan lineup which earned the top seed in the conference tournament.

Norton rounds out this year's first team as another first-time honoree. The senior forward was among the league's leaders in scoring (13.4 ppg), free throws made (70), free throw percentage (74.5), three-pointers made (27), and assists (53).

Castleton guard Kelly Conway was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year for the third-straight season. Conway led a Spartan defense which ranked first in the league in points allowed (41.8), steals per game (14.2), blocks per game (4.1) and rebounding margin (12.3).

Thomas College first-year forward Megan Pelletier earned Rookie of the Year accolades, ranking second in scoring (16.2 ppg) and field goals made (98) while leading the conference in free throws made (91). A four-time recipient of the conference Rookie of the Week award, Pelletier also earned a spot on the second team.

Colby-Sawyer Head Coach George Martin was voted Coach of the Year by his peers after piloting the Chargers to a 17-1 mark in conference play and the second seed in the NAC Tournament.

Colby-Sawyer was honored with the Sportsmanship Award .
