Colby-Sawyer's Sugars & Maine Maritime's Felix Selected to NEWBA Honor Roll
Colby-Sawyer sophomore Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine) and Maine Maritime junior Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) have been named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll, while Felix also earned North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Week accolades.

Sugars averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 60.9% from the field in a 3-0 week for Colby-Sawyer. The sophomore began the week with her fifth double-double of the season. She posted 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 65-55 win over Bates. Sugars then turned in a pair of clutch performances in a pair of NAC wins in Maine. She scored 15 points and collected nine rebounds in a 54-53 win at Husson on Friday. Sugars made 9-of-12 free throws, including two in the final seconds that put the Chargers in front for the victory. She ended the week with 13 points and three rebounds in a 52-50 win at Maine Maritime.
Felix helped the Mariners to a 2-1 week, averaging 20 points, 8.7 rebounds, four assists, 2.3 steals and one block per game, while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor. In the Mariners' 67-59 win over NESCAC opponent Colby College, Felix scored a career-high 31 points, while pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out five assists to go with two steals and one block. Felix followed that up on Friday with her sixth double-double of the season against New England College as the junior tallied 16 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block in the 63-55 victory. In the Mariners' 52-50 loss to Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, she recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block.
