Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors (April 14, 2019)

 

 

 

 

Player of the Week

Molly Denny, SUNY Canton
(Junior, M - Adams, New York)

Denny led the Roos with 13 points on 11 goals and two assists in a 2-0 week, as the team picked up a 17-10 road win at Castleton and a 17-3 home win versus Husson. The junior captain tallied game-highs of five goals, six points and five ground balls against the Spartans. She added game-highs of six goals, seven points and four ground balls against the Eagles, which kept the Roos unbeaten at 5-0 in NAC play.

   
 

Defensive Player of the Week

Christina Wilson, Maine Maritime
(Senior, M - East Granby, Connecticut)

Wilson was an instrumental member of the Mariners' defense in a 13-6 win over Thomas on Saturday. The senior midfielder scooped up a game-high five ground balls and caused a game-high five turnovers, leading a defense that held the Terriers to only 13 shots, eight shots on goal, and one second-half goal. She also chipped in offensively with a goal and an assist.

   
 

Rookie of the Week

Kaya Backman, UMaine-Farmington
(Freshman, A - South Portland, Maine)

Backman was an offensive force in a conference win against Northern Vermont-Lyndon, the only game of the week for the Beavers. She took five shots, four were on goal, and three cleared the pipes. Backman also tallied five assists for a total of eight points, picked up a ground ball, and caused a turnover in the 21-3 win.
