NAC Women's Soccer Weekly Honors (Week ending 9/9/18)

 

Player of the Week 

Makayla Lewis, Maine Maritime

(Sr., F - Purcellville, Va.)


Lewis helped lead Maine Maritime to a 2-1 week, totaling four goals and three assists over the three-game week, while landing 55.6 percent of her shots on goal. In the Mariners' 6-1 victory over Massachusetts Maritime, the senior tallied a hat trick and dished out an assist and followed that up on Saturday in the 4-0 shutout of Nichols College with a goal and two assists. 

   

Defensive Player of the Week 

Susana DeFrank, Maine Maritime

(Sr., M - Temecula, Calif.)

DeFrank helped lead the Mariners to a 2-1 week and was instrumental in holding opponents over the weekend to just one goal. She helped lead the Mariners to a 6-1 win over Massachusetts Maritime and a 4-0 shutout over Nichols College on Sunday, where she registered an assist.

   

Rookie of the Week 

Katherine Hoving, Thomas

(Fr., F - Bristol, Maine)

Repeating as rookie of the week, Hoving continued her strong rookie campaign this week with four goals and four assists for 12 points on the week. She scored a hat-trick and chipped in on three other goals in the Terrier 8-0 win over Pine Manor on Saturday, then added another goal and assist on Sunday against Becker.

 

     
 

AROUND THE NAC

North Atlantic Conference play begins September 15.

SUNY Canton Jaedyn Ossont scored the game-winner with 37 seconds left in the first overtime to lift the Roos to a 2-1 win v. Morrisville State on Wednesday. Allison Wakefield stopped six shots in the win and added a season-high 12 saves in a 4-0 setback v. Utica College on Saturday.

UMaine-Farmington dropped

Husson hosted the 13th Annual Courtyard by Marriott Classic this weekend, coming in fourth overall after dropping two matches to Elms College and Western New England.

NVU-Johnson went 1-2 on the week. Kelsey Cauchon had 4 goals on the week.

NVU-Lyndon had a 1-2 week. On Tuesday they fell at D2 St. Michael's College, 11-0. On Saturday the program broke a 30-match winless streak with a 5-0 home victory over Mitchell. On Sunday, they fell to Curry, 5-0.

Maine Maritime went 2-1 this week falling to Bates College on Tuesday night 2-0 but picking up wins over Mass. Maritime 6-1 on Saturday and shutting out Nichols College 4-0 on Sunday.

Thomas went 1-2 over the past week, losing to Colby on Wednesday. The Terriers bounced back with an 8-0 win over Pine Manor on Saturday, before falling to Becker 4-2 on Sunday.

UMaine-Presque Isle went 0-1 on the week losing to UMaine-Machias 7-1 on Wednesday.  Senior striker Jordi Legassie scored the lone goal for the Owls.
