NAC Women's Soccer Weekly Honors (Week Ending 10/28/18)

Player of the Week

McKenna Brodeur, UMaine-Farmington

(So., F - Oakland, Maine)

McKenna scored a pair of hat tricks in victories over NAC opponents Northern Vermont-Lyndon and Northern Vermont-Johnson. In the final regular season match up with NVU-Lyndon, McKenna pressured the Hornets defense with eight shots, six of which were on goal, and three that found that back of the net. In the quarterfinal game against NVU-Johnson, she increased the pressure and unloaded 11 shots, nine on goal, and knocked three into net. McKenna also handed out an assist in the win over Johnson that takes the Beavers into the semifinal round of the NAC tournament.

Defensive Player of the Week

Sami Ireland, Husson

(So., GK - Howland, Maine)

Earning her fifth shutout of the season, Sami Ireland faced two shots and stopped them both to secure a 3-0 victory over SUNY Canton in a NAC quarterfinal game at home. Ireland played a shutout half for the Eagles earlier in the week, leading the team to a 6-1 win against UMaine-Presque Isle and securing the No. 4 seed. The NAC quarterfinal win advances the Beavers to the semifinal round this weekend.

Rookie of the Week

Mackenzie St. Pierre, Husson

(Fr., M - Waterville, Maine)

Notching a five-point week, Mackenzie St. Pierre helped lift the Eagles above UMaine-Presque Isle, 6-1, dishing out a pair of assists as Husson captured a conference victory to help secure the No. 4 seed. Hosting SUNY Canton for the NAC quarterfinals, St. Pierre earned her fourth goal of the season off a direct kick just outside the box, which she slipped in just under the crossbar to give Husson a 1-0 advantage in the first five minutes of the match. The rookie added her third assist of the week after sending a long ball down the field for her teammate Joan Overman to handle and score a beautiful volley off the bounce.
