NAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors (Week Ending 10/14/18)



Player of the Week

Sydney Adams, Maine Maritime

(Jr., S - Trumbull, Conn.)

Adams was impressive in the Mariners' 2-1 week, as the team opened up NAC play with a pair of wins. She totaled 82 assists (9.11 a/s), 11 aces (1.22 sa/s), 11 kills (1.22 k/s), eight digs and three blocks. The junior setter led the team with 33 assists in the Mariners' tough 3-0 loss to a strong Bates College team, and also contributed two kills, two aces, two digs and a block i the match. In the Mariners' NAC opener against NVU-Lyndon, the tallied 20 assists, six aces, five digs, and a pair of kills. Against NVU-Johnson later in the afternoon, Adams led all players with 29 assists, and added seven kills, three aces, two blocks and a dig. The Mariners took both matches 3-0.


Defensive Player of the Week

Adrienne Beatty, Husson

(Fr., DS/L - Rochester, N.H.)

Putting on an impressive display defensively and offensively to help the Eagles go 3-0 on the week as they opening up NAC action. Beatty bumped up the most digs for Husson in both matches on Saturday with a total of 19 (2.71 d/s). The rookie also took off on a hot streak sending over ten aces against NVU-Lyndon, totalling 12 (1.2 sa/s) over the week. Beatty also chipped in two kills, one assist, and 14 points.


Rookie of the Week 

Rachel Melampy, Maine Maritime

(Fr., OH - Duxbury, Mass.)

Melampy was instrumental in the Mariners 2-1 week, leading the team in kills in all three matches. The freshman totaled 44 kills (5.50 k/s), 16 digs (2.00 d/s) four assists, two aces and a block on the week. Against a tough Bates College team, Melampy led all players with 19 kills, and also added seven digs, and a block. In the Mariners' NAC opener, the freshman hit .500 percent while tallying seven kills, two digs and an assist and followed that up with a match-high 18 kills, hitting .538 percent, seven digs, three assists and two aces in the Mariners' 3-0 win over NVU-Johnson.
