NAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors (Week Ending 10/21/18)



Player of the Week

Sydney Adams, Maine Maritime

(Jr., S - Trumbull, Conn.)

Adams helped lead the Mariners to a 2-0 week against NAC opponents, hitting .600 percent and totaling 44 assists, (7.33 a/s), 12 digs (2.00 d/s), nine kills (1.50 k/s), two aces and two blocks over the two matches. In the Mariners' 3-0 victory over SUNY Canton, Adams tallied a match-best 21 assists, five digs, four kills, an ace and a block. Adams followed that up with a match-high 23 assists in the Mariners 3-0 win over Husson, while also tallying seven digs, five kills, an ace and a block. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Maddie Thweatt, Me.-Presque Isle

(So, OH/RS - Middleton, Idaho)

Thweatt helped propel the Owls to a 2-1 record in three NAC matches this week. Tweatt's aggressive play was instrumental in UMPI's wins and she finished with 13 kills (1.44 k/s), 39 digs (4.33 d/s), 8 aces (.89 sa/s), 2 assists, and 21 points in wins over Northern Vermont-Johnson and Northern Vermont-Lyndon, and a loss to SUNY Canton. Thweatt posted double-digit digs in all three matches (16, 10, 13 respectivey) and got hot at the service line with all eight aces (2.67 sa/s) coming in the match against NVU-Lyndon.


Rookie of the Week 

Rachel Melampy, Maine Maritime

(Fr., OH - Duxbury, Mass.)

Melampy continues to play an integral part in the Mariners' success this season, helping lead the team to a pair of NAC victories over SUNY Canton and Husson University. The freshman hit .453 percent and totaled 29 kills (4.83 k/s), 21 digs (3.50 d/s), four aces and an assist in the two matches. In the team's 3-0 win over the Roos, the outside hitter led all players with 12 kills, and contributed eight digs and an ace. In the Mariners' 3-0 victory over Husson, Melampy hit .536 percent and tallied a match-high double-double of 17 kills and 13 digs, and also contributed three aces and an assist.
