Robinson Becomes First Roo to Earn Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

Canton, NY – Peyton Robinson, a senior captain on the women's volleyball team, has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Team.

Robinson, who earned Third Team Academic All-America accolades, is the first SUNY Canton student-athlete to ever earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in any sport and one of just 21 student-athletes in D-III women's volleyball to be recognized.

The team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes the top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Robinson, a Criminal Investigation major with a Homeland Security minor, is a three-time captain for the Roos. She owns the school record in the NCAA D-III era for career assists with 4,116 including a single-season record 1,310 during her freshman season. In addition she has totaled 1,073 career digs, 139 service aces, 134 kills and 76 blocks. As a freshmen the Bloomfield, NY native was named ECAC Rookie of the Week four times and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Setter of the Week twice. During her sophomore campaign she was named USCAA Player and Setter of the Week, and to the All-Academic Team as well as the All-Independent Setter of the Year.

As a junior Robinson was honored as the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Setter of the Year, named ACAA and USCAA All-Academic, earned five weekly awards and became the third player in program history to earn the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's Award. This year Peyton was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year as well as First Team-All Conference, while earning NAC Defensive Player of the Week once.

Off the court the daughter of Mark and Kathy Robinson is an Admissions Student ambassador, is the treasurer of Alpha Phi Sigma, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of the College Activities Board.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
