Maine Maritime to Host Volleyball Championship with Top Seed


Waterville, Maine - Undefeated Maine Maritime earned the top seed and will host the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Volleyball Championship tournament next weekend.

The Mariners (22-3 overall, 6-0 NAC) have won three NAC championships in a row, and were predicted to win their fourth title in the preseason coaches poll.

SUNY Canton (8-20, 5-1) claimed the #2 seed by winning two matches on the final day of the regular season. The Roos have made the championship tournament for both years as members of the NAC.

Northern Vermont-Johnson (13-11, 4-2) earned the #3 seed, and #4 SUNY Delhi (12-13, 3-3) completes the four-team field. This is the first NAC post-season appearance for both the Badgers and the Broncos.

The final four format will pit #1 Maine Maritime against #4 SUNY Delhi, and #2 SUNY Canton against #3 Northern Vermont-Johnson, in semifinal matches on Saturday, November 9. The semifinal match winners will compete in the championship match on Sunday, November 10. Match times will be determined on Monday.
