Shafer earned two other fourth place finishes, as she clocked in at 20:23 at NEC's Mayflower Kickoff Invitational and finished the Emmanuel College Saints Invitational in a time of 19:25. At Keene State, the sophomore finished fifth overall with a time of 19:11. She went on to break her original 5k record with a 21st-place finish at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in a time of 18:48 (13 seconds faster than the previous school record set by Shafer last season). At the Purple Valley Invitational, she finished 42nd overall running in a time of 23:54.
Cotter, a Moultonboro, N.H. native, impressively led the Terriers in every race she competed in during her rookie season. Cotter placed 10th with a time of 22:13 at the Castleton Invitational, 19th at the UNE Invite (20:48.1), 29th at the Bowdoin Invitational with a time of 25:47.36, 32nd at the Maine State Championships (21:31), and 37th at NEC's Mayflower Kickoff in a time of 22:42 to round out her rookie campaign. Cotter also earned two NAC Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Bisaccio's squad was selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2014 title and the Chargers did not disappoint. Colby-Sawyer earned first place after scoring 38 points with four runners in the top ten. The Chargers also placed in the top three in three of their meets this season including a first-place finish at the Castleton Invitational, a second-place finish at the NEC Invitational, and a third-place finish at the Western New England Invitational.
