Shafer claimed her fourth NAC Championship medalist honors this past weekend. The senior crossed the line in 19:19.4, which was 34 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. The 5k championship race included 95 total runners, representing 11 NAC schools.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kathleen LeBlanc, UMaine-Farmington

LeBlanc placed second out of 95 runners at the NAC Championship this past weekend. The rookie crossed the line in 19:53.5, helping the Beavers claim runner-up honors with 60 points.
NAC CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
Colby-Sawyer earned its fourth-consecutive North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Cross Country title after finishing as the top team. Abby Shafer of New England College won the NAC individual title with a time of 19:19.4.
The Chargers claimed first place after scoring 43 points with four runners in the top eleven. The 5k championship race included 95 total runners, representing 11 schools.
The women's team runner-up was UMaine-Farmington after posting 60 points, while Castleton was third with a score of 71 followed by Husson (141), Lyndon (164), Maine Maritime (169), Green Mountain (180), New England College (226), Johnson (230), UMaine-Presque Isle (263) and Thomas (273).

Shafer completed the 5K course 34 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Katie LeBlanc of UMF and Lauren Oligny of Colby-Sawyer finished second and third respectively in 19:53.5 and 20:27.8, while Kaylyn Crompton of Castleton crossed the finish line fourth with a time of 20:39.4. UMF's Laura Pulito placed fifth in 21:00.2, Martha Aschale of Colby-Sawyer was sixth in 21:11.9, while Miranda Messeck of Castleton and Gwen Baker of UMF, rounded out the top eight, with times of 21:37.9 and 21:42.2 respectively.
