Maine Maritime senior Rachel Sincebaugh earned NAC Women's Runner of the Year after winning the race in a time of 19:39.

Thomas' Laura Coyne finished fourth at the event to earn NAC Rookie of the Year, the first runner from an institution other than Maine-Farmington in five years.

Lyndon State freshman Joshua Grant became the second Hornet freshman in two years to capture both the Runner of the Year and NAC Rookie of the Year honors after after winning the NAC men's cross country championship race in a time of 27:22.

Maggie Klein, Castleton
(Jr., - Castleton, VT)
Klein finished 12th out of 141 competitors at the Saratoga Invitational. Klein ran the 5,000 meter race in 18:50, pacing the Spartans.

Samantha Deplanche, Maine Maritime
(Freshman, Runner - Dover, NH)
Samantha came in 4th place in the Mariner Invitational on Saturday. The rookie runner came in with a time of 23:03.

Greg Baribault, Maine Maritime
(Junior, Runner - Amston, CT)
Greg won the inaugural Mariner Invitational with a time of 29:51 in extremely difficult weather conditions.

Nohea King, Castleton
(Fr., - St. Albans, VT)
King finished 56th overall out of 157 competitors in the Saratoga Invitational. The freshman harrier toured the 8,000 meter course in 28:30, scoring 45th.

MEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Joshua Grant, Lyndon State College
(Freshman, - Nashua, N.H.)
Grant finished fifth overall out of 39 runners at the Saint Michael's College Invitational, an event that featured a Division I program - the University of Vermont - as well as two Division II teams, meet hosts St. Mike's and Georgia College. Grant set a personal record with a time of 27:08. His fifth place resulted in the only non-NCAA Division I runner in the top 10 and led the Hornets to a second-place finish at the event.

King helped Castleton to a third place finish at the Western New England College Invitational, finishing fifth overall in the 12-team race. King toured the 8,000 meters in 27:40.

 

 

 

 

WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Maggie Klein, Castleton
(Jr., - Castleton, VT)
Klein led the Spartans to a fifth place finish at the Western New England College Invtiational, winning the 5,000 meter race. Klein finished the race in 19:29, earning the top spot by four seconds, and leading 135 other competitors across the finish line.

Miller placed 32nd at the State of Maine Championships at Colby College. The freshman finished the 5K race in 20:52.90.

Sincebaugh won the individual honors at the St. Joseph's College Invitational on Saturday. Her first place time was 21:19.

Carl placed third at St. Joseph's College's Runnin' Monks Invitational. The freshman clocked a time of 21:34 on the 5K course.

Grant finished third overall out of 65 runners over a very challenging eight-kilometer course at the Runnin' Monk Invitational in Standish, Me. Saturday.He was the first NAC runner to finish the race covering the course in 27:45. The Hornets placed second out of eight full teams.

Roper finished 20th at St. Joseph's College's Runnin' Monks Invitational. The freshman crossed the finish line at 30:13 in the 8K event.

Klein finished 10th in the Vermont Collegiate Championships Saturday, leading Castleton to a fourth place finish out of nine teams. Klein's time of 20:02.2 was 10th fastest among the 83 participants.

 

 

 

 

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Cassie Tricou, Lyndon State College
(Freshman, - New Haven, Vt.)
Tricou finished 31st overall out of 83 runners and was the first freshman to finish of the four NAC schools racing at the Vermont State Intercollegiate Championships in Johnson, Vt. She completed the wet and hilly five-kilometer course in 22:13.7. The Hornets placed 5th out of 10 teams in a field that included NCAA Division I, II, and III runners.

Klein scored 37th in the Cod Fish Bowl at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts. The junior toured the 5,000 meter course in 20:13, finishing 39th out of 207 competitors to lead Castleton to an 18th place team finish.

Carl (21:47.30) beat out teammates Emily Farley (21:47.65) and Salena Sykes (21:47.93)for the individual championship at the UMF Invitational. The freshman helped the Beavers to the team title at the five-mile race, which included four other NAC schools.

Grant finished second overall out of 61 runners over a challenging eight-kilometer course at the Southern Vermont College Invitational, Bennington, Vt. Saturday. He covered the course in 29:44 the lead the Hornets to victory in the eight-team field.

King finished 125th out of 262 competitors at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. The freshman toured the 8,000 meter course in 27:43, leading Castleton to a 29th place finish out of 37 competing teams.

Corey Hellwig finished 54th overall at the Middlebury College Panther Invitational with a time of 33:18.6 and was JSC's top runner in an incomplete team result for the Badgers.

Klein finished the 5,000 meter race at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational in 19:34 on Saturday. The junior finished 51st out of 301 competitors, leading Castleton to a 31st place finish in the 42-team event.

Sykes placed 137th at the UMass-Dartmouth Shriners Carnival varsity race with a time of 20:59 on the 5K course.

Rachel Sincebaugh, Maine Maritime Academy
(Senior, Runner - Greenville, TX)
Rachel picked right up where she left off in 2008 with an outstanding start to her 2009 season. The senior runner finished in 4th place out of 76 runners at the UNE Invitational on Saturday with a time of 20:45. The time was her personal best by almost :30 seconds in a 5K.

Miller finished 18th at the Colby Class Wave Relay Carnival freshman/sophomore race. The freshman finished with a time of 21:23.66.

Grant finished 12th overall out of 91 runners over a challenging 8-kilometer course at the University of New England Invitational in Biddeford, Me. Saturday. Grant covered the course in 28:19. The Hornets tied for second with UNE in the eight team meet.

King led Castleton to a win at the Johnson State College Invitational. The freshman harrier spanned the 5,000 meter course in 17:23 to win the event. Castleton won the four-team event, sweeping the first four individual positions.

French finished second in the Johnson State College Invitational, running the 5,000 meter race in 17:38. The freshman was one of four Spartans to finish up front at the four-team race, which Castleton won.

Klein won the Johnson state College Invitational, leading Castleton to the win in the four-team race. Klein ran the 3,000 meter course in 12:53, tops of the five Spartans to cross the finish line in succession.
